Chapter 1: Rude Awakening

Excalibur POV

We had done these many times before. As one of the oldest surviving Warframes, it's become basically a tradition now, for me to rescue and train new Warframes, in the hopes of improving our chances of survival. However, the mission wasn't how it was supposed to go. We were supposed to secure the package, be in and out clean. This time, Rhino was accompanying me on a derelict full of infested. Equipped with my Dread bow and akmagnus pistols, along with the newest prototype I had snagged from the Corpus: The Falcor, and rhino with his Vaykor Hek, Lex Prime and Ripkas, this should have been a walk in the park, just like every other rescue mission. This time, our package was the newest Warframe and operator The Lotus had found. Whilst not knowing its name, all we know was that its pod was on the same infested derelict ship that we were going to be infiltrating. We then set out in our landing craft, Me in my Mantis and Rhino in his Xiphos. As we set out to find this new Warframe and its operator Rhino voiced his concern about this mission and saying something along the lines of "this feels off why send in a two-man team when it would be safer with a three or even a four man team" via a telepathic link (courtesy of the void that ran through our bodies), though I dreaded to admit it but he was right I had a similar feeling creeping in to the back of my mind but I pushed it away as the Derelict came into view. The infested tendrils slowly crawling around the ship looking for any organic matter to feed on, and as all Tenno know Warframes are made of organic polymers which made it difficult to get past infested creatures undetected.

As me and Rhino approached the side of the derelict, we were looking for an entrance to place our landing craft so that it would be close to the objective. Of course, as fate would have it all possible landing areas within 1000 metres were destroyed by newly formed ribbons of the infested that were glowing blue because they decided to attack and dislodge a few engines.

Having finally found a viable landing spot, albeit a fair distance away from the target, me and Rhino disembarked from the landing craft and began our trek through the ship utilising our pistols that had been modified with a maxed out suppress mod (a mod that reduces the chance an enemy will hear gunfire). This was because whilst the infected were mindless they definitely weren't deaf; Rhino found this out the hard way a long time ago and had ever since refused to partake in infested spy missions until Ivara (the silent hunter of the Tenno) told Rhino about the mod in question and he finally started doing missions. I mentally scolded myself as whilst daydreaming I managed to walk in to a Juggernaut… "oh fuck". THUD. I'm sent flying in to Rhino who didn't move an inch because he decided to cast Iron Skin to protect himself, of course for me that was horrible as all that kinetic energy was sent right back into me entirely depleting my shields, whilst leaving my health untouched. I was silently thankful for buffing my shields with a redirection mod, as I don't know what would've happened if I hadn't. Looking up I saw that Rhino had annihilated the Juggernaut whilst still being undetected. How I don't know, and he has done similar things countless times before and I just stopped asking when I only received a grunt in response every time. We decided to move on to avoid and infested that might come charging our way.

Present time

After another 45 minutes of searching and killing of a fair few groups of infested, we managed to find the Warframe and operator we immediately contacted the Lotus and told her "Lotus we have found the Warframe. She's primarily white with red and black as secondary and tertiary colours. It appears that she also has four claws that resemble bones protruding backwards from each wrist…. Lotus…. LOTUS!" What felt like minutes went by whilst we waited for her response, in the meantime we decided to awaken both operator and Warframe when the com channel decided to fizzle in to life with a distorted lotus telling them "leave both Warframe and operator behind and escape something…. erelict it's about… plode". This sent off alarm bells in our minds as I grab the operator and Rhino grabs the Warframe we make a mad dash for the landing craft. 200 metres left, and the ship decides to announce that the void core is going to detonate in 20 seconds. 9 seconds remaining as we approach the landing craft, we hear a landing craft leave. We ignore it and place the operator and Warframe in our respective craft and grip on tight…2 ….1…. nothing happened. Rhino in the spur of the moment leans back, and as he finishes moving. Bang! We were thrown in to the void as a result of the explosion. As my vision faded from the stress the Transference was placing on my body, I could just make out Rhino clinging for dear life to his Xiphos, and a white and red Scimitar.

Unknown POV

5 Minutes earlier

"… I need you to sabotage an Orokin Derelict" the Lotus' voice came through the speakers.

"Yes, I get that but I'll ask again: why?" a deep male voice replied.

"Fine. The derelict contains a Warframe called Garuda who specialises in gore and is much more vicious than Valkyr, so much so that they locked her up on this derelict to stop anyone from reviving her." Was the Lotus' response.

"Well why didn't you do this sooner… you know what? It doesn't matter I'm at the void drive… drive compromised leaving the derelict" Once arriving at his landing craft he mounted it, but not before catching a glimpse of two other landing craft. Once he was at a safe distance the adrenaline wore off and he realised who owned the landers he saw. He ran to the glass and saw the explosion, a look of guilt on his face.

"You did nothing wrong Volt. Those two betrayed the Tenno by awakening Garuda" the Lotus announced but Volt couldn't hear her. He just killed a friend and the only person he considered a brother. What had he done? How would the others react? What would they do to him? All these questions spinning around in his head eventually caused Volt's operator to fall unconscious.

The Night Prior

Ruby's POV

'I'm so tired, why is life so stressful? First Yang diches me, then I get blown up because of the Ice Queen and finally that same Ice Queen decides to give me a lecture/ declaimer because she assumed, I didn't know how dust works. The absolute cheek of her' I thought to myself whilst looking through the window of the ballroom up towards the night sky admiring all of the white dots in the sky. As well as that really close purple glowing spiral… "WAIT WHAT IS THAT!?" I practically screamed drawing the attention of everyone it the room who decided to admire it and after another 10 seconds it decided to shrink till it could no longer be seen. 'What was that thing?' I silently started thinking about possibilities until Yang gave me a bear hug going on about how she was "so proud" of me so I eventually started fighting her in hopes of getting her off me. Eventually forgetting the mysterious purple light that appeared in the sky.
