Chapter 1: Zombies

Trees. Pigs. Sheep. Everything you would expect to see in a Minecraft world. I had spawned on a big patch of grass by a couple of trees. One of them had decided to drop an apple, so I picked it up and placed it in my inventory to save for later. I started punching the tree, knowing that I would need the wood from it to survive.

I had gotten 5 pieces of wood, so I placed them in the 2x2 crafting grid in my inventory, making 20 pieces of wood. I then took 4 of them and made a square, making a crafting table. Using 2 of the planks, I put them in once again, this time on top of each other, making 4 sticks.

I placed down my crafting table and crafted a sword, putting 2 planks on top of a stick. Breaking the table, I ran around, trying to find some sheep to make a bed.

After running around for a while I hadn't yet found any sheep, which wasn't good because it was getting dark. I decided to make a house out of dirt, which was where I would settle for the night.

I started collecting some dirt from the ground, but then a noise from the distance made a shiver run down my spine.

Grrr…

"Zombies," I said, quickly digging up the rest of the dirt. I made a house out of the dirt I had collected, trying to go as fast as I could. I didn't have enough dirt for a roof, but I knew that the roof is the least important. I ran inside.

But then I remembered; I forgot to mine for stone! I needed it so I could make a furnace, but it was dark outside.

I decided to do it. I knew one of the major rules of Minecraft is to never mine at night, but I decided to take that risk of doing so.

Breaking two of the blocks of dirt, I made a doorway and ran out, grabbing my pickaxe I had made beforehand. I started smashing away at a patch of stone I had found, quickly getting eight pieces, the amount for a furnace.

I ran back to my dirt hut and ran inside, placing it in a corner and threw in wood to smelt into coal. Then I covered up the doorway so no monsters could come in, and I waited.
