"Yuuki......" The eyes of the young pureblood male flashed open. Every day starts and ends with that name. But todays day had started unexpectedly early.
Kuran Kaname was not usually a person to skip classes for an afternoon... or rather, after midnight nap.
But situation had pushed him into stress and so he now sat up from his comfortable chair.
Even in the rare times of his own, he could not enjoy a pleasant rest.
A nightmare had plagued him.
"...Yuuki." He repeated. With the resent death of Hio Shizuka, memories of old wounds had been freshly ripped open.
Once again, a house with no windows. A young girl, mourning over the loss of her mother....
And that same girl, disappearing from his sight, to be found in the snow.
What fearful moments those had been for a still young Kaname.
his crimson gaze glued to the clock on the wall. 3 in the morning......
Fully aware of it being a dream, the worry of her wellbeing did not leave.
But perhaps he was always like this.
Fore that one girl had a talent of running into trouble.
Perhaps not unnoticed, but being a pureblood and class president enables you to leave the school ground without question.
A visit to the chairman was a very good excuse.
But that wasn't his destination.
Yuuki's room was empty for but Yuuki herself. Earlier, Wakabe Sayori had wounded herself and was spending the night in the infirmary.
The room was cold and lonely. Yuuki aswel, had woken up from a nightmare. Running from an unfamiliar shadow. the smell of blood, tainted snow. it had been so vivid.
a weak attempt of sleeping, which didn't work. facing the wall, she felt tears wallow in her eyes. why was she always like this?
She felt scared. She yelped at the sound of the windows flailing open.
in shock, she turned to expect the shadow who had disturbed her dreams. But it was not.
"Kaname.....sempai.." She nearly sighed his name in relieve. but it came out, more as a hoarse sob.
The man in the window opening noticed her tears.
"As I though...." He whispered.
"Eh?" Yuuki responded.
The man shook his head, then stared at her. "Yuuki....."
he walked up to her and reached his hand out.
"......" She hesitated, but then eagerly took it.
Kaname took the opportunity to pull her against him.
"Mysterious, isn't it?"
"What is?" Yuuki looked up, her nose slightly touching the skin of his neck.
"Even being on the other side of campus, we were still thinking the same..." A slender hand cherished her hair gently.
Yuuki then realized. "ah! err! I'm- err! I'm still in my pajamas and sempai is-" as she tried to pull away, she noticed how tight Kaname's grip was.
As if he was frightened to lose her the moment he'd let go.
"Kaname-sempai....are....are you alright? Is something wrong?"
"No.......it's fine..."
She felt the skin of his face was moisty against her head.
Yuuki closed her eyes.
Kaname-sempai felt warm and soft. He had come when she was lonely. He had always been there without a word spoken.
probably, Kaname could chase away any nightmare for her.
'I love you....' she believed to only think.
"I love you too....."
