"Will…you…get off…my leg…!" Bobby huffed, swinging his foot around with each step. Ever since Dean headed off to school, the weather had turned for the worse. A storm had settled in very shortly after the bus took the older Winchester off and now Sam was terrified. He had clung to Bobby for dear life at the first boom of thunder and crackle of lightning.
"No!" Sam yelped, digging his nails into Bobby's leg with another clap of thunder.
"Shiiiiit!" Bobby seethed, sitting down and pulling the boy into his lap. Sam instantly curled into Bobby, sunk down between the older man and the arm of the chair. He whimpered and hid himself as best he could from what he was convinced was a giant coming after him.
"Make the storm stop…" he cried into Bobby's side, taking a fistful of his shirt with one hand and jamming the thumb of his other hand in his mouth for comfort.
"I can't do that, Sammy. Wish I could." Bobby said, repositioning himself to deal with the boy's fear. "But…I think I know how to make it go better…" he leaned forward, resting one hand against the child's back to support him as reached for a pair of ear mufflers. "These'll make it quieter, maybe not so scary…" he explained before putting the fuzzy parts on Sam's ears. The sounds grew softer, and everything sounded like it had a stuffy nose. Thunder sounded outside and caught Sam's attention, as it made no more sound than a rug smacking against the hard floor.
"What was that?" Sam asked, "Was that the thun'er?" Bobby nodded, chuckling to himself at Sam's new-found joy in the sound. "That's cool!" Sam giggled, throwing himself back and placing his thumb back in his mouth, slowly falling victim to slumber's hold. Bobby followed shortly after.
I needed Bobby-and-Sam fluffs so I made my own. I regret nothing.
