Mother's kisses

Some are kissing mothers and some are scolding mothers, but it is love just the same.

-Pearl Buck

Ooh. Why did it hurt so much? Why, why, why? The little boy let out a pain filled sob, blood dripping methodically down his skinned knee. Inflamed flesh surrounded the trickling red liquid.

"Mommy!" He called. "Mommy! Com'ere Mommy! My leg hurts!" He sniffled pathetically, and rubbed his tear stained face. One small pale hand wiped the blood away, while the other propelled the boy into a wobbly standing position.

He moved carefully, mindful of the pain putting weight on the leg would bring, even so, he eventually had to do so, if only to move forward. When he did, a strangled sob jerked out from him. It hurt, hurt, HURT! His small feet stumbled, and one hand jerked out to break his fall. It snagged on a durable turquoise material, and left light red fingerprints on the fabric.

"Oh, Sweetie! What happened?" She murmured softly. A swift intake of breath, and the boy who had acted so brave, was bawling helplessly in his mothers arms.

"I f-fell!" Sniff. The young mother brushed her fingers through his hair, and heaved the little one into her arms.

As she began her trek torwards the brick house across the street from where her son had fallen, the mother pondered how to make her son feel better. And as she turned the door knob to her rather crazy looking house, she got an idea. Now, most mothers know that there isn't much you can do to stop a bawling and wounded four year old. You just have to calm them and hold them until they run out of tears. Maddie had always wanted to find a faster way to go about this. After all, you couldn't stop every time they hurt themselves. What if you were driving? Or on the phone with an important business associate? There had to be a quicker way to go about this...

And as she hugged her beloved son close, she got the idea. She placed the little boy on the kitchen counter, and smoothed his hair while she tried to remember where the first aid kit was. The child gazed up at her with wet baby blue eyes and a warbling lip when he saw her pull anti-bacterial spray that stung ferociously out. And when he saw her pull out the bandages that seemed to bite him when they were removed, he burst into tears again. And Maddie considered her idea.

She misted his leg with anti-bacterial spray while he cried, and wrapped it with biting bandages while he sobbed. And just when it seemed as if he was running out of steam, the tiny boy sucked in a breath and continued his weeping with renewed vigor.

Now would be the perfect time to try out her idea.

"Sweetie." She murmured. He glanced up at her with surprised and teary eyes. She kissed him on his bandages.

"Feel better?" She asked. He glanced between her face and he hurt limb in slight shock for a couple seconds.

"...Yeah." The mother smiled softly.

"I never told you before, but mother's kisses are magic. They make anything fell better."

"Really?"

"Really and truly."

Authors note- Sappy, but I thought it was kind of nice (The beginning was strangely fun to write!) Please tell me what you thought. Reviews are and will always be appreciated!
