A/N: Second CM fic and it still revolves around Reid. Hmm. I sense an addiction. Anyways, this has a similar plotline(ish) to my Dollhouse fic, Deck the Halls with Dolls, so if you like Dollhouse and this I suggest you go read it. I had fun writing both.
Disclaimer: I asked for CM and Reid for Christmas, but my mom said she didn't know how to wrap that so I had to go smaller. -sigh-
Warnings: This might make you want to have candy, dance in snow, or just hug Reid. In other words, have a Merry Christmas.
Pairings: 'Twas not my intention to make the a Morgan/Reid fic, but maybe if you hang from the ceiling by that tinsel..no, not that tinsel, the other tinsel!
Spencer Reid had always loved Halloween. He loved the thought of the supernatural, the dead coming to life, vampires and goblins and werewolves. Christmas was a bit different. At Christmas, he would remember the first Christmas he spent without his dad. Because even at a young age he knew. He knew that Christmas wasn't about toys and presents. It was about family. And he felt he'd lost his family that year.
Halloween, he had costumes and his mother taking him out really late after Trick-Or-Treating to see a Broadway play. Thanksgiving, he'd stuff his mouth with turkey and fall asleep with his mom reading him Shakespeare plays. But Christmas? Well, he knew better than to ask for a whole lot and so he didn't get a whole lot. He couldn't drown himself in presents. And his dad wasn't there so he could run up and shout 'Merry Christmas!' and get a hug.
No. Christmas was over for Spencer. He never felt the need to celebrate after his eighteenth birthday, so he didn't. But that year, as he walked in and eyed the Christmas decorations, he wished he could run around and tear down everything. He wanted to scream and shout and yell because people don't just leave you alone for Christmas. Instead, he tucked his hair behind his ear, kept his head down, wiped the remaining snow off his pants, and shuffled to his desk slowly. He felt eyes on him, and he didn't blame anyone for staring. He'd only been this withdrawn a few times, when he first began working with the BAU and when Gideon left.
So he wasn't surprised when Morgan came up, asking if he was alright. Spencer smiled through his funk, nodding a bit too eagerly.
"Yeah, yeah. Fine. Merry Christmas." The words were forced, and Morgan could tell, he was sure.
Morgan tilted his head to the side, narrowing his eyes for a moment before nodding to himself and smiling. "You sure?" He waited for a nod. "Alright, man. Merry Christmas." Morgan slapped him on the shoulder, moving to go past him.
Spencer let out a sigh, rubbing his forehead.
"Oh, Reid?"
Spencer turned, raising an eyebrow. "Yes?"
"We're all getting together tomorrow, a sort of before-Christmas Christmas party, y'know? Garcia wanted to know if you're comin'. You are, right?"
Slowly, a smiled spread over Spencer's face. "Yeah, I'll be there."
Morgan grinned brightly. "Good. Remember to bring presents, right?"
Spencer nodded as Morgan walked away, sighing lightly. He was a fool. Sure, he hadn't had a family until he joined BAU. But he did afterwards. So maybe Christmas wasn't all that bad of a holiday. Maybe it could be just as good as Halloween.
Spencer froze suddenly.
Damn. Now he'd have to go Christmas shopping.
