Tecna was, and never would be, a very social girl. And that was perfectly fine by her. But it also attracted unwanted attention from people Tecna had no desire to receive it from.
One such person...was Xena Ware.
For reasons she had never really understood, Xena had always seemed to have it out for her. It made absolutely no sense to the technology fairy. Xena was the pretty, popular, and social girl, and despite her ugly attitude, most of the other people their age swarmed her constantly, practically begging her for attention she rarely ever gave them.
She bullied several students. But it was Tecna she enjoyed bullying the most.
*Flashback Sequence*
"Tecna!"
Tecna sat up hurriedly, blushing as she found that her teacher had caught her on her phone in the middle of class. She was standing over her desk, arms crossed and glaring down at the embarrassed twelve year old.
"Care to tell the class what's more important than learning how to operate the advanced softwares on your holo devices?"
"Um, actually, Miss Flash, I already know how to work my advanced holo systems. In fact, I was just--"
"I could care less what you were doing, Tecna. But if you know the subject so well, then you would have no problem explaining what sequence a holo call to Solaria would take."
"Of course not." Tecna cleared her throat and looked around the room. Most of the other students were watching her blank faced, but one girl near the front was giggling uncontrollably. She had long, dark purple hair pulled back in an elaborate braid, and eyes so dark brown you could barely make out her pupils. Somehow, she managed to make the school's basic white and green uniform look fashionable.
"To make a holo call to the planet of Solaria, you would need to have a frequency level of 2,316 percent at the very least. But if you had a frequency level over 3,213, then you would instead end up making a call to the planet of Eraklyon--"
"Alright, yes, very good." Miss Flash stopped her midsentence. "Thank you, Tecna, you can sit down now, but please do pay attention."
Tecna settled back into her seat, but she didn't return her attention to Miss Flash's lecture. Instead, she kept tapping in more programming onto her phone, hoping to finish out the first part of the new video game she'd been working on. Although, because she had once again focused somewhere else, she didn't notice the mean girl's expression morph from amusement to fury in a matter of seconds when Tecna received no humiliating punishment.
In their final year before leaving for Alfea, Tecna sat by herself in the courtyard of the academy she attended, lost in her own world. Virtual holograms of trees and bushes surrounded her and the other students hanging around the yard. Sitting on a bench a few feet away, however, was Xena, with her two cronies on either side of her.
Tecna didn't notice the furious look on the girl's face, and even if she did, she wouldn't have known why it was there and directed at her. The reason behind it was that, earlier that day, Xena had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend (now ex-boyfriend). She hardly remembered exactly what they were arguing over seeing as both of them liked to get angry over the tiniest of things, but in the heat of the moment he'd shouted something about the magenta haired fairy being prettier than her, prettier than all the other girls in the school. At first, she'd been upset, but then she'd gotten angry, but not at her ex. At Tecna, for the simple reason that people seemed to think she was more beautiful.
It was infuriating.
Tecna, on the other hand, had no idea about any of these occurrences. She'd never even paid any attention to the boys at the academy, and she'd never really had any intentions to. But Xena didn't care.
"Ugh, I can't take it anymore." She growled, complaining to the girls at her sides. "Come on, girls, let's go show her who the real queen of this school is."
They got to their feet and marched up to Tecna, who looked up, startled.
"Oh, hello, Xena." She greeted. "Could I help you?"
"I don't need your help." Xena sneered. "In fact, no one does, so I don't know why you plan to waste your time at Alfea. Your powers would be useless, anyways."
Tecna frowned slightly, and set aside her phone. "Actually, Xena...considering we come from the same kingdom and the same planet, our powers are very similar to each other, so if mine are useless, then yours are as well, simply by default."
Xena grit her teeth. "You think you're so clever, huh? Well...ugh, this is ridiculous!"
Tecna did not look phased in the least bit. In fact, she looked as if she was amused, and was trying to hide it. "Hm, you're right, Xena, you are being a bit ridiculous. Perhaps it'd be best if you stop with this right now?"
"Ugh!"
