A Knightly Kiss
Keith didn't like seeing Allura look so worried. She hadn't slept since they received the news that one of their allies had been captured by Zarkon's army. While everyone else did their best to cheer her up, Allura hid behind a fake smile that Keith knew all too well was fake. While Shiro was holding a meeting with the other Paladins, Keith grabbed Allura by the hand and led her to the training room where they could talk in private.
"What's wrong Keith?" Allura asked, a mixture of confusion and concern in her voice.
Once the door closed behind them, Keith looked back at her with the most gentle eyes Allura had ever seen. There was something about him that confused Allura to no end. One moment he was as brooding as a neglected knight on the battlefield with no enemies to fight and then the next moment he's as concerned as a lover. He walked up to her to the point where they were practically chest to chest.
"How're you holding up?" Keith finally questioned after a moment of long silence between them. Locking eyes with her, "You haven't been acting like yourself lately."
Allura couldn't look away from his enchanting eyes. "I've been...doing my best. I just wish that we could do something for our friends who've been captured." She admitted softly.
Keith once again touched her hand with tenderness. "It's not your fault. They knew what they signed up for when they offered to help us."
"I'm the Princess of Altea and the leader of the rebellion. It's my fault because I'm the one who they pledged their loyalty to. You should understand that too Keith, after all you were also the leader of Voltron before." Allura said, not realizing her words carried a strange amount of venom to them with her shame.
Keith visibly cringed when the insult hit him full force. He was sure she hadn't meant it as a insult but the guilt for abandoning her and the rest of their friends still caused him to feel a hint of guilt that he couldn't face just yet. But he couldn't allow Allura to keep blaming herself for something she had no control over.
Before Allura realized what was happening, Keith lifted the hand he was holding up to his lips and kissed it. Causing Allura to look at him with surprise and a furious blush on her cheeks.
"Allura. Please don't abuse yourself like this, I can't stand to see you look so upset." Keith said as his soft lips parted away from her gentle hand. Gazing up at her with his alluring eyes.
Allura couldn't say a thing. The words didn't want to come out and she could feel her heart start to race faster in her chest. What was happening to her?
On the overhead, Coran's voice called out like a school principle. "Everyone! Come to the bridge at once!"
"If you wanna talk to me later, I'll be in my room." Keith said bluntly as he let her hand fall away from his hand and walked towards the door. He stopped and looked back with a sly smile, "Oh yeah. If you could keep that kiss a secret that'd be great. We wouldn't want Lance to hound on us for stealing you away from him."
Allura stood there dumbfounded and confused. She watched Keith exited the room and her heart screamed at her to kiss him before he left. But he was long gone and now she had to compose herself before everyone saw the huge blush that covered her entire face.
