Warm Hot Coco

Star didn't want to see another suit of armor for the next twenty four hours. Her mother had insisted that she give a formal speech to her kingdom's knights to prepare herself for the day she became Queen. But she got so nervous that the only thing that came out of her mouth was the entire plot of the last book she read before she left the stage. Now she laid down on her back in her bedroom wondering when her embarrassment would fade away.

There was a knock on the door and Star lifted her head to gaze at it with defiance. "Who is it?" She asked with irritation.

"It's me, Marco. Can I come in?" Marco said from behind the door. Star couldn't help but feel the hearts on her cheeks brighten at the sound of his voice.

Getting up from her bed, she walked over to the door and opened it to see Marco standing there with two mugs filled with some sort of hot liquid. It smelled delicious.

"I thought I'd bring some hot coco to help cheer you up." Marco said as he offered one of the mugs over to his Princess. She took the hot mug from one of his hands and they walked back into the room together, sitting down on the side of her bed. "My mom always brought me hot coco when I was upset."

Star brought the warm liquid to her lips and she tasted the richest chocolate she had ever tasted. It was so sweet yet strong that she could feel her irritation withering away from her soul. She gave a peaceful smile and took another sip. "This tastes so good~!" Star said with glee.

"I'm glad you like it. I thought you could use something sweet after what happened today." Marco stated before taking a good swig of his own drink.

Star set down her mug on the side table by her bed and wrapped her arms around Marco's waist, causing the boy to blush at her sudden physical contact. "You being here would be sweet even without the hot coco."

Marco did everything in his power not to drop is mug of hot coco on the ground as he felt a tight squeeze from Star. His heart racing in his chest, "Oh stop it, you're making me blush."

"Am I?" Star said teasingly, looking up at his face and realizing he wasn't lying. But there was something about his blush that seemed so familiar. Where had she seen that dorky blush before?

She pulled away from him and took another sip of her hot coco. "Why don't we go out to the castle garden after this, I'd like to meet up with Grandma Eclipsa." Star said when she downed the last drop of hot coco from her mug.

Marco nodded his head. "Sure, I got nothing else to do today."

They waited until Marco finished his cup before leaving the room and heading towards the garden. The sweetness of the hot coco overwhelming Star's senses as she felt like something even sweeter happened between them.
