Fight Club

"Why won't you help me with my homework?" Hiyono whined.

Ayumu shook his head and repeated what he'd been saying for the last ten minutes. "I'm a grade lower than you. How would I know what to do on your homework?" It was becoming something like a chant. He knew exactly what she'd say next, too.

"But you're, like, a genius! At least look at it!"

Ayumu was tired of hearing (and re-hearing) this conversation, so he stood up to leave. "I told you I don't want to, and I came up hear for some peace, not to be bothered by you! Lunch is almost over, let's head back to class." At this, Hiyono did something very alarming… her eyes got even bigger and shinier than usual, tears welled up, she started to pout…and then…cry!

"Waaaahh! Narumi-san why are you always so mean?" She sobbed. Ayumu apologized quickly, then was dismayed by the speed at which her tears dried up. Obviously, she had been faking, and he had fallen for it! "So you'll help me?" the blond girl asked hopefully. Ayumu felt trapped, but protested one last time. He would have been prepared for another bout of fake tears, but instead Hiyono yelled, "Then suffer the wrath of my Hiyono Punch! Triple Attack!"

At first, Ayumu almost laughed at her. "Triple attack? What's that mea- Ow! Ow owowow ow!!" This continued as Hiyono pelted him with her puppets, one on each hand…and one foot! She only stopped when she heard a familiar voice from the door.

"Well, well, looks like little Narumi can be beaten by a little girl with a few puppets. Pathetic." The owner of the voice, a tall red-haired boy, leaned against the wall and smirked at poor Ayumu's bad luck.

Ayumu felt a little silly, crouching on the ground to avoid Hiyono's attack, but that didn't stop him from replying angrily, "Not like you can talk, Kousuke, since Ryouko's always beating you up!"

Ayumu could see the track star eating bread and coming up the stairs behind Kousuke, but the unfortunate red-haired boy didn't. "Ryouko doesn't count because she's a sports freak." He told Ayumu, completely unaware of the impending doom standing behind him in the form of a cute girl with short brown hair. Ayumu smirked as Ryouko glared at Kousuke.

"So I don't count, do I?" she asked coldly. Kousuke fell over in surprise, stammering. "no, I mean yes, I mean-" Sadly, his pitiable state won him no mercy from Ryouko, and she kicked him in the head. "You idiot!" she screamed.

Hiyono had been ignoring her brown-haired genius friend to watch the other couple's fight. Said friend used this as his chance to escape, but because Ayumu is too lazy to run, the blonde girl soon noticed. "don't just leave" she told him, "aren't you worried about Kousuke? Ryouko's angrier than usual." She said it as if she hadn't just been beating up Ayumu and the blade children's fight might actually interest him. Ayumu just looked at them, then shook his head and continued to walk away. "Then, Narumi-san, would you please help with my homework?" Finally giving in, he agreed.

"But not up here," he added, glancing at the battling Kousuke and Ryouko, "it's too noisy."
