'So did you ask her?'

He falters slightly, feet almost missing the ball as he makes a sloppy attempt to regain his footing.

'Seriously Tai, and you call yourself a soccer star.' She laughs, hands on her hips as she gives him a teasing grin.

'One, it's soccer superstar in training.' He takes a moment to pick up the ball that rests by his feet, holding it gently against his hip. 'And two…ask who what?' Genuine confusion laces his voice as he eyes his sister suspiciously.

Rolling her eyes, she clucks her tongue in disbelief. 'Really? How dense are you?'

'I resent that statement!' He calls over his shoulder as he walks over to his bag, setting the ball beside it in order to take out his water bottle. 'Seriously Kari, I have no idea what you're talking about.' He hears her make her way towards him, muttering something about 'idiot boys' under her breath.

Just as he gets the open bottle to his lips, she rips it out of his hand –'Hey!' –only to whack him on the back of the head.

'Damn, what was that for?' Rubbing the back of his head, he glares down at his younger sister.

'That was for being an idiot.' She replies testily. 'And I'm talking about Sora! You remember Sora right? Friend from middle school? Girl who plays tennis? The one you can't stop talking –'

He clamps a hand over her mouth. 'Ok I get it. Sheesh.' He smirks as her cheeks puff up in annoyance. 'So what about her?'

Pushing his hand away, she rolls her eyes again –'Keep doing that and your eyes are going to fall out' –and sighs heavily.

'Did you ask her out?'

The deep flush that spreads throughout his face is instantaneous. 'I…I…er…uh…'he sputters helplessly. 'W-why would I do that?'

'Well it's obvious that you like her.' She drops and sits with her legs crossed on the grass, picking at the blades beneath her. She peers up at him. 'You still like her right?'

'Yes? No?' Running a hand through his unruly hair, he plops down beside her and sighs. 'I don't know…maybe?'

She wraps an arm around his shoulders, patting him gently on the arm. 'Well, if you…maybe like her…you could ask her out?'

'And when did you become all match-maker like?' He wonders curiously.

Smiling softly she leans back on her arms, staring straight ahead. 'You're my big brother, I just want you to be happy and besides,' she punches his arm lightly, 'it's my job to look after you.'

'Maybe you're right.' He chuckles, ruffling her hair in protest. A brief silence passes through them, as her words begin to sink.

'I'll think about it.' He says softly.

'Well, you could ask her at Matt's concert tomorrow night right?'

'I could…'

'Then that's settled!' She says suddenly, a gleeful expression on her face. 'Trust me, you won't regret this.'

'I suppose…' he pauses, a sly smile tugging at his lips. 'So…what's this I've been hearing about you and T.K?'

'Shut up Tai.'

'Just remember to think of me when you guys get married.'

'SHUT UP TAI!'
