Everyday she would find a flower on her doorstep. Everyday she would find a small note.
Sweet dreams. It said one day, with a clutch of phlox. Keep smiling. Said the note attached to a yellow tulip when her parents divorced.
Once… He stopped sending them for a while. Fifteen red roses arrived at her door, just when she gave up hope. I'm sorry. It said. Later that day, there was a single pink rose. Please believe me. She smiled.
He had always been so shy when it came to her, so unwilling to actually tell her how he felt. Yet he was so gentle, it was easy to tell that he cared for her.

"Thank you…" She whispered as he brought his arms around her.
"Come." He said, taking hold of her hand. "Where?" She asked him, "Close your eyes." He whispered to her.
He led her to a room that smelled of roses. Full of roses.
"How many?" She asked him, in awe. "Nine hundred ninety nine. Forever."
"And a day." She smiled and held up a single white rose.
White roses for innocence.
Red roses for love.
Both for unity.
