I know I was supposed to update: It was supposed to be fun.

I got bored and sad. Plus: this is a birthday Prompt to my lovely sis. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Disclaimer: I own nothing recognizable (I apologize for any mistakes, this was the rough draft, will post the final draft when it is finished.)

Thor was many things.

Among many, the Thunder god seemed to be the most popular amongst the mortals. Always praising him like he was everything, it nearly brought him to tears. One time, while traveling after the battle of New York, he came across a small group of children dressed as his comrades yelling and playing a game of slaying other friends who ran around trees. It broke his heart.

These funny people always amazed him. But his favorite was Jane.

If words could truly describe his feelings for her the skies surely would not be able to hold the joy. She was his light when he was banished into an unknown darkness. She went with him while she was possessed, even trusted him along the way. She stood by to let him weep over the war criminal also known as his brother. She did not question him when he came back for her. Assuming the grief from the journeys was too much.

She stayed with him when he had nightmares. Waking up, screaming for no other reason than reliving Loki's death over and over. She stayed with him. The only other person than his mother to see him express his sorrows through heart wrenching tears, but staying, no matter how weak he was.

He was the first to leave.

It was for Asgard he had told her. Heimdall had mentioned something wrong with the throne and beckoned him urgently. He had never meant to take so long.

He had gotten caught up in something and when that something was finished, something else always took its place. He never knew it had been over sixty years. Never had he intended to take that long, always having a plan to give u hid immortality for her, never getting the chance.

He never could quite recall the moment he walked through the white hallway. Nothing for her, nothing he could give would help anyways, but his love. Oh, how he loved her. How he longed to see her face but one more time. The horrifying idea that he may never have a chance stayed in his mind and he quickened his pace.

She had to know he cared.

Seeing her, his Jane, attached to so many wires, old and grey in a hospital bed; it broke his heart.

She looked up to see him. Feeling guilty that he made her work as hard as she did, he quickly took a seat on a chair by her bed.

Her eyes twinkled and they talked of things before he had left.

She had children. A good husband she said. His name was Ward. Serious, yet fun.

He stayed single, counting down the days until he saw her again.

Eventually they lost things to talk about. So she asked about the stars.

With a vibrant energy he told her of the vast beauty. Wonder and magic unlike anything he had ever seen in all of the nine realms. The wonderment and love it soaked from him. The call that beckoned him, and with each word her breath fell.

She breathed no more.

And it broke his heart.

Because when he was talking about the stars, he was describing her. And she would never know.

Thor was called many things, but heartless, was not one of them.

Should I continue with more one-shots? Haven't written for this fandom yet.
