Hellfire

You stare up at the sky, your crimson eyes blank and unfeeling. The darkness was positively interminable; it was like there never even was light. The star ocean you knew so well was too far from view for your tired, corrupted eyes to perceive.

You tilt your head to the side, but the sight is the same. The darkness embraced you and traced its icy fingers over your body so many times that it was starting to feel warm. You knew what it was.

You knew it was hell.

But it wasn't the first time you heard of hell; there had been so many stories on Eldar about the fiery inferno of misery with the impending doom the planet faced. It was something that people constantly whispered of, something countless, foolish cults were formed around, but still a force they all knew was going to come. There were always those who speculated whether the world would end in fire or ice, but for his home, they were all painfully aware of how their planet would meet its end.

It was just the time that was so cruelly unexpected.

Despite all of that, you had heard of hell in another place as well. It was something that was feared on many underdeveloped planets; while it was given many different names, there were always dark parallels between each tale. Regardless, there was still something that put that instance above the others, since for that person, it was much more than just a story.

Hell was something she had experienced firsthand and seen with her own eyes. She would not tell you much about her time lost there, but you had drawn up theories without even meaning to. Some were quite wrong – you always thought that there would be more fire and heat rather than darkness and cold. Even if your hell was different, in those moments where the crimson started to fade back to violet, you know that you saw hell as well.

She could be the only person who truly understood what you were experiencing.

You close your eyes as that fleeting surge of violet disappears. The darkness was so much more peaceful than all of those theoretical fires that seem to burn the edges of reality. The cold made all of the pain and loneliness ebb away, which was more than what so-called allies could provide you with. You were numb to the point that the coursing shadows mask your face.

Even when the color of blood taints the window to your soul, there was still that strange bit of hope buried at the heart of the darkness. She had escaped hell and all of its fiery depths alive. Perhaps, just perhaps, you could escape as well and find your way back to her.

*pets crazy!Faize's hair*

Here's a vague little FaiLym drabble from sometime back in 2012… XD

I only had it posted on DA previously, but why not share the experimental second person love? It's pretty fun to work with a point of view out of the norm.

It's been a long time, but I still love this pairing. Star Ocean 4 provided one of the rare occasions when my OTP became canon. XD
