Alright, I'm not dead! Yay! Now that that's settled I want to apologize for staying away for so long. I didn't like the way this story was going and thought about deleting it. If it weren't for the few followers that trickled in these past following months I would have washed my hands completely. *For my previous story followers, yes, this story is going to be slightly different now. I do hope that it is for the better. I hope that you like it... now onto the prologue!
SO IT WAS settled by the fates that Jounouchi would be born poor, stay poor, and forever be poor it seemed. His dad had died not too long ago in a petty bar fight. Sure, he mourned for the loss of his old man until he found out that his dear ol' dad got into the fight because he was stealing everyone's drinks from the bar. Nothing seemed to be looking up after that. His sucky job and even sucky-er side job didn't even come close to making enough for the dumb apartment and a decent amount of food. Often times he had to choose whether he should pay for the tiny apartment or decide that he had gone without food long enough. Serenity, the sweetheart that she was, tried to send him as much money as she could without getting caught by their mother.
Ah and what a lovely mother she was.
She had rejoiced unashamed when news spread that her ex-husband had passed, "he always had it coming" she'd say. Although, she wasn't too happy when her son called the next morning asking-pleading- to stay with her and Serenity, her reply was that he would end up just like his father with much resentment and venom in her voice before promptly hanging up.
Katsuya had been hurt for weeks, months even, before he mustered up the courage to pick himself off the floor and take his head out of his ass.
Needless to say it had become a huge shock to the said blond when he received an envelope full of money sent from his mother's address the first time. Pulling out the wad of cash, a small note fell loose onto his scruffy brown coffee table. It read:
"Dear brother,
I know times are hard and getting harder for you,
but here's a little something I hope will help you
get by. Most of it is mine, however, I did catch
Mom sneaking in a twenty. She's not all bad, Jou.
She still loves you.
Ren."
He be damned if he said he didn't tear and choke up when he read that his mother still cared for him in her own way. When he counted the money he had come up to two- hundred dollars which turned out to be more than enough for the month. Later on down the road though, he grimaced, he knew he needed a third job.
~xXx~
IT WOULDN'T HAVE been hard to find a job further uptown if it weren't for his records. Most of the employers he encountered just took one look at him and began to shoo him out of their stores claiming that he was scaring away "precious customers". Now, Katsuya was never one to be man handled by pansies but with his high mounting rent and grocery debt kicking him in the ass, he didn't have time to show the sissies their place and have enough to pay for a ticket or bail. He also thought about turning to prostitution again, but he didn't like the soreness in his ass after a few careless mistreatments. After coming home dead tired the third week behind his rent, the stupid old woman of a landlady said that if he didn't come up with half of it by the next week he was out of a home. Not that the apartment was much of a home anyway.
But didn't he just have a way with people of Dragon Landia?
First, Moneybags then this woman, can't a guy catch a break?
I know that this is short, but there will be more. Please comment and tell me how I did. Until next time... ~Byyeeee.
