Fushimi Saruhiko knocked thrice on his superior's door. "Captain, can I come in? It's Fushimi."
"Come in." Reisi waited for the younger boy to come in before continuing. "Did something come up?" He didn't even look up to face Saruhiko.
Fushimi walked towards the desk of the older man after closing the door behind him. He placed a stack of papers on the said desk and clicked his tongue. "I'm done with the papers you asked me to take care of. Seriously, you should stop passing your work to me."
Reisi stared at him, "You are not supposed to complain to what I order you to do." Reisi stood up and looked outside. "Do you have another business with me?"
Fushimi bit his lower lip. "Well.. There is indeed something else."
Reisi raised his eyebrows as he turned to look at him. "And what might that be?"
He ran a hand on his hair exasperatedly. "Awashima… Vice Captain Awashima is worried about you. Because you're not going out of your office ever since Suoh Mikoto died."
"Mm. That." Reisi sighed, "She's not supposed to be worried. I just need a little bit of space, that's all." Reisi continued, "Where is she, anyways?"
"In her office. She actually asked me to check on you…" Fushimi raised an eyebrow. "Are you going out for once?"
"I don't know." Reisi looked down, and closed his eyes. "What do you think would've happened if Mikoto didn't die?"
He bit his lip. "Why are you asking me this? There's no point thinking about it, is there? He already died. What's the point of thinking about 'what if' situations?"
"Mm… Right." Reisi uttered. A bit relieved he'd say that. "You can go now."
"W-Wait.." Fushimi looked down, biting his lip again. "There's still something else."
"Something else?" Reisi stared at him again, looking bored than usual. "And what is that?" He tried not to look bored, though. But that was what he was right now.
"I'm…" He clicked his tongue. "I'm kinda worried about you too… D-Don't let this get to your head." He turned back. "Well, goodbye then."
"Ah…" Reisi grinned a bit. When he was about to go, he called him. "Fushimi-kun."
He turned to face the older man again, but avoided his gaze. "…What."
Inside himself, Reisi laughed hard. "There are still papers you need to work on." He smiled a bit, "Good luck."
That was the first time he saw Reisi smile in a long time.
