Finding The Dress
Molly and Lucy had spent their entire afternoon trying out dresses for an event that night. While Molly had hit gold right in the beginning and had found the perfect dress for herself, her sister wasn't that fortunate and was having a bad time.
"I knew we shouldn't have left this for the last moment!" Molly complained when Lucy stood in front of her, in yet another outfit.
"You know what? I'm tired of trying out hundred clothes and not finding anything that's nice on me. Let's just buy your stuff and leave. I can wear something of yours or something I already have," Lucy ended her sentence a bit doubtfully.
"Oh no! Of course we aren't doing that!" Molly looked scandalized.
Both the sisters knew that Lucy didn't own any fancy girly clothing; most of the times, she borrowed clothes from her older sister.
The woman who had been helping them immediately lost the hopeful look after hearing Molly's words.
"It's fine, I'm not going to find anything that suits me," Lucy said glumly.
"I thought the theme for tonight was dress-to-impress?" Molly questioned with a raised eye-brow.
"It isn't going to work, let's just go," Lucy continued in her downcast tone.
"Ha! As if. When we find the dress and I'm done with you, you'll blow Lorcan's eyes deep into his sockets."
Lucy looked both alarmed and amused at her sister's choice of words, and finally settled for a warm smile. They hadn't been the closest while growing up, but in the recent past, things seemed to have changed. When Molly had found out that Lucy liked Lorcan Scamander, Lucy had expected to be teased and laughed at. But for some weird reason, well – it was mostly, "My baby sister is finally being a girl" – Molly had made it her mission to make Lorcan notice Lucy romantically because the latter was extremely nervous and scared and unwilling to venture into that territory.
"Okay, let's get back to this," Molly said, her voice held new vigor.
And so the process went – dress after dress, no after no, and then –
"Oh my Merlin!" Molly screamed and jumped out of her chair.
"Is it so horrible? I thought it looked fine." Lucy looked at her peach colored dress with a confused expression on her face.
"No, of course not. It's perfect! It really is," Molly spoke in a high pitched tone and hugged Lucy in excitement.
"Yes, it really does," their help said, looking extremely relieved.
"Are you sure I look fine?" Lucy added, turning around and looking at herself. "I feel a bit weird."
Molly rolled her eyes and said, "That's only because you never wear anything like this – come-on, get changed, we have loads more things to do."
Lucy sighed and went back into the changing room. Before changing back into her clothes, she studied herself in the mirror one last time and smiled shyly – she did look nice.
A/N: Hope you liked it – I'm an unwilling shopper who usually goes through this scenario, sometimes I don't find what I'm looking for. :P What kind of a shopper are you? :D
