A/N: I am totally on a roll. 3 stories in just 2 days? Go me.
This is pretty much Cuddy. Not a lot of House and none of the ducklings or Wilson. Couldn't seem to fit him in here. xD
Disclaimer: I don't own House, M.D. David Shore isn't that nice to give me House for my birthday or for Christmas.
But he might. You never know. I'm still keeping my hopes up. If he does, I can promise you, I will give you all some Huddy love! XD
Once upon a time, there was a young girl called Lisa Cuddy.
She wasn't exactly beautiful, nor was she striking. She was what people called average. Her face was dark and straight and her eyes a normal shade of green. She wasn't overweight nor did she remember a stick that anybody could pick up and throw around. She was absolutely normal. She was friendly, not too self-confident and not especially self-conscious, at least not until she entered the teenage years. Boys regarded her as a girl, nothing else. They joked with her, asked her for help with their homework and sometimes returned the courtesy when she needed it.
There was only one thing that Lisa Cuddy had that wasn't average- her strong determination.
Her decision to be a doctor was a spur of the moment thing. She had been stressing about jobs. She was only twelve but seeing her oldest sister going off to a university, she started obsessing about careers. She had switched from so many careers that her parents had only smiled politely when she ran down the stairs and exclaimed happily she wanted to become a doctor. Her parents' smiles were patronizing. It irritated her so much that she was determined to stick to her chosen career.
And she did.
And she grew to love it.
When she was a teenager, it was simple. Wake up, shower, go to school, do the best. Then come home, do homework, exercise, flip through biology/science textbook, have dinner, watch TV, go to sleep. She cared about her body but not enough to obsess over the bulge that she called her stomach. She jogged for twenty-five minutes as well as she could and then she would do thirty sit-ups. She didn't bother with push-ups. They were excruciating and who really needed them? She couldn't care less.
She had planned to go to John Hopkins but she wasn't qualified enough. University of Michigan would do fine. Though not going to the her dream university, she became the second youngest and the first woman Dean of Medicine. It was mostly administration but she made it a point to do her daily clinic hours.
And then she hired Gregory James House, her Prince Charming in disguise.
They would slip into delightful banter. Slowly, this expanded into an odd friendship. Cuddy was always there for him and strangely enough, he for her. When he became monotonous. When she burst into tears for no reason. House would awkwardly wrap her in his arms, put his chin on her head and hold her until all the tears fell. Then he would step away, brushing at the wet spot on his shirt and walked away. Cuddy didn't mind his cold exit.
As cliché as it seemed, Greg House was comfort enough.
And Lisa Cuddy was happy. With her life, with her friends, with her acquaintances, especially with the one and only Greg House.
