More Than a Memory

Fou-Lu/Mami. Never did he think a mortal woman could haunt him so, but when you're finding things to do not to fall asleep, because you know she'll be there in her dream, that's when she's more than a memory.

-More Than a Memory

People say she's only in my head

It's gonna take time, but I'll forget

People say I need to go on with my life

But what they don't realize…

With face being cradled by his hands, Fou-Lu's thoughts wandered to her again. He was sick of trying to fight it, her memory always won, the memory of the sweet and gentle village girl, her brown hair and her kind smile, even her soft eyes and country accent. Her death was, in retrospect, his fault, she was murdered by the empire he'd built almost a thousand years ago. He looked at her bell with his amber eyes. It was small, and cheap, but shone like her smile, and he cherished it. Not something he'd openly admit, it was uncommon for a god to love a mortal.

Is when you're dialing six numbers just to hang up the phone

Driving 'cross town just to see if she's home,

Waking a friend in the dead of night

Just to hear him say "It's gonna be alright"

As night fell he'd felt her overflow in his mind, his tears shed like streams down his slightly tanned face. Her bell was now around his neck, Wong-Qu watched his master suffer, suffer over a mortal girl. He pawed his shoulder, grabbing his master's attention. Wong-Qu cleared his throat and spoke: "She be only a mortal master, ti not something to dwell on."

Fou-Lu gave a sigh in response to his vassal.

"Tis not so, she hath been more to me than anyone I hath met before." He told him.

When your finding things to do not to fall asleep

'cos you know she'll be there in your dreams

That's when she's

More than a memory

He wanted to destroy her bell, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He didn't want to forget her, and this was his only keepsake of her. Mami was too important to the god emperor. Not even a picture of her was with him, but he still could recall her beauty, her soft hands treating his wounds. She'd hoped that he could forget everything and start a life with her. She'd told hi that before she helped him escape from his own empire.

'I wish I could have as well." He said silently to himself. He clinched her bell to his heart. He knew it wouldn't be, one can't defy fate.

I took a match to every she ever owned

Watched her words go up in smoke

Took all her off the wall

That ain't helping me at all

When he'd been engulfed by the hex he'd heard her scream. He'd felt something within his shatter. He fell and before everything went dark for hi, he'd shouted her name to the heavens, hoping she'd hear, a vain hope he knew. He was hurt still, and he lay motionless.

When you're talking out loud and nobody's there

You look like hell and you njsut don't care

Drinking more than you ever drank

Sinking down lower than you ever sank

When he'd faced his other half he lost. He knew it was intentional that he let Ryu win. He knew if he became a park oh him again, let Ryu be the dominant one, he could see her again. Ryu planned on giving up the power of the Yorae Dagon, and Fou-Lu knew that would let him go to her. So he became a part of him, and when Ryu did give up the power, he felt himself drift away into the darkness.

There, standing at the end of a long dark tunnel was a woman, slender, with long brunette ahir and soft eyes. Almost instantly Fou-Lu's arms opened for her.

Finally, she was more than his memories.

-End

Yes I know, it sucked, but I had to, I ,love Fou-Lu/Mami.
