CHAPTER ONE
This is my story. There are a few things you should know about me before I start my story. My name is Michelle Marie Torres, though I prefer Mitchie or Mitch, and I am 18 years old. I'm going to be starting collage in a year or sooner. I am bilingual as well. There is only one thing I love more than anything, and that would be singing.
Singing is my biggest passion. I have been told I have a great voice, but I don't think I'm as good as everyone says. I have been singing since I was young. I remember saying in grade nine, if I'm correct, that I would never stop. I still sing to this day as proof.
"Mom, I'm going out!" I called out through the house, knowing my mom would hear.
"With who and when will you be back?" she asked, walking into the foyer. She always asked me that, and, to be honest, it is now very annoying. However, I know she's only asking because she loves me and is looking out for me.
"I'm meeting some friends at the mall, and I'm not sure when I'll back. I'll text you if I'm going to be back after ten tonight, okay?" I said making sure I left no detail out.
"Okay, don't get into any trouble," Mom said as I began to head out to my car.
"Yes Mom," I said over my shoulder. I got into my car, backed out of the driveway and headed towards the mall. Since it was summer and it was know to be quite warm here, I decided to put the roof of my convertible down. I put on the radio and out came a song from the Connect 3. I'm not the biggest fan of them, but they do have good music and are fairly cute. I sang along to the song as I pulled into the mall parking lot. I managed to snag a good spot close to the doors. I got out and walked into the mall.
Once inside, I decided to head to the food court. I was closing in on it when I noticed a large crowd. Not too far from the crowd, I saw two of my friends, Emilee and Caitlyn. I walked over to them.
"Hey guys!" I said fairly loud, the crowd being the cause.
"Mitch! You wouldn't believe who's here!" Emilee yelled referring likely to who was creating the crowd.
"Yea, totally," Caitlyn said flatly. I'm guessing that whoever is here, Caitlyn isn't too fond of.
"Who? It can't be a celebrity; no one even knows this place exists," I said knowing it was true. You see, this place is in the middle of nowhere. I mean, Timmins is fairly big, but no one knows where it is. I wouldn't mind leaving here, but we have the highest grad numbers in the area. That might be because of small, but still big, population. The teachers all want the same thing: all their students to make the honour roll. Everyone does, everyone thanks the teachers they had, and that never changes.
"Well then, you're in for a shock," Emilee said, now pulling me towards the front of the crowd. We managed to get right to the front fairly quick. I looked back for Caitlyn, but she was nowhere to be seen.
"Emilee, where did Caitlyn go?" I asked, yelling for her to hear me.
"I don't know. She keeps sneaking off somewhere… I think they're about to come on!" Emilee screamed. A second later, three guys came onto the stage, which was about a foot away from where Emilee and I were. The three guys looked like they were related to each other somehow.
"Hey everyone! We are Connect 3!" the middle guy, Shane, said making the crowd freak out. My jaw dropped. I can't believe that they were here. So, I'm a bigger fan than I will admit. I will admit that I do like Shane, though. I mean, his looks and fortune are a bonus, but I'm sure his personality is just as good if not better.
"Sing along if you know it!" Nate yelled into his mic. A second later, one of their songs began. It was one of their newer ones, I could tell. It was different than what was on the previous album released from them for sure. As the song continued, Shane had come by me, and I thought he would pull me up onto the stage with him. Unfortunately for me, that didn't happen.
The mini show was coming to the end when I noticed Caitlyn backstage. I wonder how she got there. I mean she was acting like she didn't like them earlier. She did say she wants to act in movies as she was really good at acting. The boys finished up, and left the stage. I saw Nate walk up to Caitlyn and kiss her. Wait...Why did Nate just KISS Caitlyn?
By time reality came back to me, Emilee and I were approached by a large black guy. I'm taking that he must be Connect 3's bodyguard. He said that the boys wanted to meet us. Emilee looked at me, her jaw half to the ground. I, however, kept my cool and said we would love to meet them. We were led somewhere. We entered a room with the Gray boys and Caitlyn.
"Hey, Mitch, now we know where Caitlyn went," Emilee said once seeing Caitlyn.
"Yea, totally," I said, not all there.
"Guys, these are my friends. Emilee and Mitchie," Caitlyn said, snapping me out of my trance.
"Oh my gosh! I'm a huge fan! Jason you are so hot!" Emilee stopped abruptly and began blushing as if there was no tomorrow.
"Caitlyn, think we should tell them?" Nate said to Caitlyn. Caitlyn looked kind of nervous from this. I hope she isn't going to say that she and Nate were dating. I mean, I would be happy for her, but I would be mad at her too. We've been best friends since grade school, I trust her with my life, and she didn't tell me.
"Tell us what?" Jason asked, confused on the situation. I could tell he was thinking the same as me.
"I don't know," Caitlyn said a hint of worry in her voice. I wondered if I should say something.
"If you two are going out, things are going to be interesting," I said then quickly looked away.
"Yea. Wait...how did you find out?" Caitlyn asked, giving me a shocked look. I shouldn't have said anything. I don't want to lie to my best friend, but what if she was going to tell us herself? I am so screwed.
"I kind of saw you and Nate kiss..." I said, trailing off. I hesitated, but continued. "I wasn't snooping; I just kind of saw it,"
I saw Emilee's jaw drop, Shane and Jason looked somewhat shocked, and Nate and Caitlyn just stood there. Things stayed like this for a little while before Emilee began to ramble.
"No way! I can't believe it! Why didn't you tell us Caitlyn? Is it because you had a feeling that...I'm going to be quiet now," Emilee said, only stopping because Caitlyn was giving her the look. Caitlyn and I both had looks to tell Emilee to stop talking. Caitlyn's said something more like, "Shut up or else," whereas mine was softer then Caitlyn's look.
"Nate, why didn't you tell your brothers? I understand if you weren't ready to tell us before but-"
"Shane," Jason said cutting his brother off. "Nate, I'm with Shane on this,"
I wished I hadn't said anything at this point. I may have messed things up for Nate and Caitlyn, both directly and indirectly at once. I hope I didn't so much. What I didn't understand was how my best friend didn't even tell me. I was hurt but I wasn't going to let it show.
I suddenly saw movement coming towards me. A second later, Caitlyn had my arm in her grasp, dragging me out of the room. I am officially screwed.
