"Blondie. Blondie! Juliet! Hey, Juliet!"
Juliet shook as she awoke. Had she been knocked unconscious? The last thing she remembered was that flashing white light, and then... Nothing. She looked up from the sandy beach where she now lay to find Sawyer beside her, shirtless, and looking slightly anxious.
"You okay there angel face?" Sawyer asked as she sat up.
"Yeah, I'm fine... Thanks," Juliet mumbled. "What happened? Why was I out?"
"There was that light thing, and then you just kinda..." he mimed her fainting overdramatically onto the sand, which made her giggle a bit.
"Haha, very funny," Juliet said, laden with sarcasm. "So what just happened?" She asked, getting back on track.
"Hell you've been here much longer than me sweetheart, I was gonna ask you the same thing. There aren't any more hatches that needed blowing up, are there?"
"The sky wasn't purple."
"Uh... you okay? Because in my world, the sky is generally quite a nice shade of blue," Sawyer asked cautiously. The last thing he needed was Juliet going mental on him.
"I didn't mean it that way," Juliet said as she rolled her eyes. "What I meant is that when The Pearl imploded, the sky turned purple."
"Fine then, it wasn't a hatch, then what do you suggest Velma?"
Juliet rolled her eyes at the nickname, and got to her feet. "Is anyone else around?"
"Yeah. Rose, Bernard, and our lovely freighter friends."
"Miles and Chalotte?"
"You betcha."
"And Daniel?"
"Probably went on a cruise to Hawaii on his little raft, how the heck do I know?"
"Thanks for the input, James," Juliet called behind her as she walked towards main camp.
Sure enough, Rose, Bernard, Miles and Charlotte were sitting around a fire eating soggy oatmeal.
"Juliet, how are you feeling?" Rose greeted her as she stumbled into the kitchen area, still a bit wobbly after fainting.
"I'm fine, thanks Rose," but Juliet barely had time to finish before Bernard cut in.
"What just happened?"
"What was that light?"
"Where is everyone?"
"What do you think happened to everyone on the chopper?" Sawyer asked, and their eyes locked.
"Juliet, do you know—" Rose started, but Juliet cut her off.
"Look, everyone just needs to settle down," Juliet said gently, but with enough authority that they all looked up to listen. "I know that these past few days have been really hard on all of us, whether we've been at the beach or the Barracks, but we need to calm down. Working separately on our own interests is not going to work, we have to work together to try to find these answers, because I don't know. I've never seen that before, and the only way we can find out what happened to us, and to our friends," once again her eyes locked with Sawyer's, "is if we figure out our gameplan. But for now, what needs to happen is some sleeping. We're all exhausted, and a good night's sleep never did anyone harm. We'll find a way through this, I promise."
There was a long period of silence before Rose smiled, and led Bernard back to their tent. Miles and Charlotte soon followed, leaving Juliet alone with Sawyer by the fire. He was staring at her with interest, and a hint of a smirk.
"Live together, die alone, right?" He said with a larger smirk.
Juliet was amazed. He really understood what she had just said. "Yeah," she replied in awe.
Sawyer chuckled.
"What?"
"You've been spending a little too much time with the Doc, that's all."
"Is that so?" Juliet asked, smiling a little.
"Yep..." Sawyer trailed off, and for a moment they both just stood there, gazing at the dying flames.
"What do you think happened? Jack, Kate, Sun, the people on that chopper... Do you think they're..." He didn't want to say it, in the fear that it would be a reality.
"I don't know," Juliet answered sadly. "But I meant what I said, James... We'll find out. Together."
