Chapter 1
After all these years
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After all these years he was still a ghost of his former self. Living only by the memories of that which was and will never be.
A 17 year old girl was walking on a beach in the moonlight with her boyfriend. Her first love. On most days the beach was deserted at this time.
But today she saw a man standing at the shore gazing intently at the ocean. There was something odd about this man, but she couldn't quite pin it down. So she just stood staring at his back. But before she could find out what was making her feel so weird her boyfriend nudged her along and they passed him. When she turned back for one last time she saw him still looking at the ocean.
The next day when they came to the beach that man was still there, as if he had never left. But today he was walking in their direction. Even though he was coming towards them he seemed not to see them. His eyes were watching something that wasn't here. They crossed each other. He suddenly stopped and came out of his reverie. He turned back and called out, "Henrietta!"
They both turned and came a little closer. As she couldn't seem to find her voice her boyfriend stepped up and said, "Sir, you are mistaken her name is Lisa not Henrietta. And I am Mike."
"Oh I am sorry. She looks a lot like someone I knew once. Anyways I am Jose."
By this time Mike was getting suspicious of the man. He could see the gun hidden beneath his jacket. So he nearly dragged Lisa along with him. She hadn't spoken a word yet.
Jose saw them retreating till his eyesight would allow, then he turned back towards the ocean.
Is this what he had been waiting for all these years? To see that face one more time in his life? He didn't know. But he did know what he wanted to do now. Why had he waited for so many years? But it didn't matter now. For the first time in his life he knew what to do. It was time.
And he started walking towards the waves.
