My Hero
Ewan was her brother, and he once was her hero.
The SBPD was empty but for one solitary figure standing at her desk. Juliet O'Hara was assembling and disassembling her gun with vigor as her hands shook with anger.
Juliet's gaze was fixated on her gun, while her mind drifted. He had betrayed her, he had always been her role model, and then he just wasn't anymore. She had to be strong again, no tears, because that was what she had learned from him. "Ewan." Juliet muttered to herself.
"Juliet." Juliet spun around and saw Shawn standing behind her leaning against her desk.
"Shawn…What are you doing here?" Juliet asked with a mix of curiosity and anger.
"I…well, I came to apologize for putting you in that situation. I know it must have been hard for you, and I'm sorry."
Juliet raised her head, and their eyes met. There was a long pause as they just stared into each other's eyes and then Juliet broke the silence. "Shawn." Juliet whispered as she broke down. Then the tears finally came out. Shawn rushed forward and wrapped his arms around her.
"I'm sorry too Shawn, I shouldn't have snapped at you. I…I always thought that Ewan and I had a special, unusually strong relationship. It'll never be the same."
"Shh, it's okay Jules." Shawn soothed, "It's gonna be alright."
"How?" Juliet asked as she looked up into Shawn's eyes with desperation, she needed an answer.
"He'll move on. You did the best you could. It's like a poker game, sometimes the card's you get dealt are crap, but you just have to make the best out of it. You don't always win, but you don't lose either. You can still play another hand. The story continues, I mean, c'mon, look at my father and I. He arrested me, and we never had a good relationship. Ewan will forgive you."
Juliet rested her head on Shawn's shoulder, and held him closer, glad for the company. Shawn's hand found hers, and he intertwined their fingers. They remained like this, Shawn comforting her with his presence for a while.
When Juliet finally pulled out of his embrace she leaned forward. Shawn leaned forward, and Juliet brushed her lips against his cheek. Shawn slightly shifted his head closer to her and Juliet pulled back. She opened her mouth, wanting to say that she loved him, that he had no idea what she meant to him, but instead she just said, "You are my hero, Shawn." Juliet strode out of the building leaving a bewildered Shawn behind.
