Hey! Welcome to my very first fanfiction! (Keyword- first. So don't be hating if this really sucks:)
The little part here in the beginning that is italicized (sp?) is actually a legit quote from The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Lines 10-17 on page 146, to be exact. Unfortunately, none of that story belongs to me. That is all the genius that is Stephenie Meyer. (That was my disclaimer, fyi :P)
Jeez, what are you doing still reading my blabber? Get to the story! :D
"Please," I said again, wanting him to get this over with. "I don't want to fight."
Though he still held himself ready, his face changed. He looked at me in a way I didn't totally get. There was a lot of knowledge in that face, and something else. Empathy? Pity at least.
"Neither do I, child," he said in a calm, kind voice. "We are only defending ourselves."
I stared at him, confused at what he had just said. These yellow-eyed vampires were supposed to be vicious, but somehow I trusted his words. It did not seem like he wanted to jump me right then, despite the crouched position he held. I realized then that this coven was never going to come and attack us like Riley had said. Just one more lie to add to the list. Still, I stayed cautious of this guy. I did not want to be fooled, like when an alien comes to earth in a movie saying he comes in peace and then attempts to wipe out mankind. I decided to speak up.
"I'm sorry, I never meant for this to happen. I didn't know…"
"What's done is done. We have defeated the rest of your army, so if you know what is good for you you will not challenge us. Are you willing to surrender?" he questioned, his bright gold eyes peering deep into me. I inhaled.
"Yes."
"Then go." His reply caught me off guard. I just looked at him, not moving an inch. There had to be a catch.
"Go, child. This will be your only chance! Run as far away from here as you possibly can, or you will die." A hint of urgency was in his voice now, and it made me anxious. He was not lying. I stood up, backing away slowly, sure not to turn my back on him. I still was not sure if I could trust him completely. This was just too weird.
Off in the distance I could hear light footsteps approaching, and I knew I had to bail before they saw me. It was another yellow-eye, and this one might not be as kind as the blonde. I looked at the odd man one last time, nodded to say thanks, then turned and took off into the trees.
Yeah... kinda short :\ That's why I made it the intro. But a legit chapter one will be up soon enough! It's gonna be awesome! :D
In the meantime, please feel free to review and give me suggestions/love/ideas, whatever :) Thanks!
