Arisa; So, this was supposed to be a happy birthday fic for my dad's birthday but...it's kind of over a month late...Happy birthday anyway, Dad (and anyone who reads this on/near their birthday).
Do you recognize anything? Good; I don't own it. I don't own the name Dark Squire either, it belongs to BlatantBookworm.
Something was wrong with Robin. He seemed quieter, more withdrawn. It wasn't something that was noticeable unless you really looked for it, at least, that's what the Team thought at first.
When there was a lack of "trolling" they just wrote it off as Robin finally growing up a bit. When Robin took out an enemy with a single kick (and only a kick, no going ninja, no cackling) they frowned but thought nothing of it (except for Wally, he seemed to have figured out what was wrong). When Robin snapped at Megan, then the Team acknowledged that perhaps they were too caught up in their own little worlds.
So the entire time during their report to Batman, Wally was next to Robin (not talking or joking, simply reminding the bird that he wasn't alone) while the rest of the Team constantly sent him worried glances.
"Robin, you'll be staying with the Team until further notice," Batman said with his usual gruffness after Aqualad finished his report. Only the little bird heard the underlying message. 'I have to work late, I'll pick you up later.'
The ninja didn't move, "Fine, whatever."
His mentor paused, "Robin." 'Do you want me take you home instead?'
Robin shook his head slightly. 'Go, I'll be fine.' Batman nodded and left, albeit hesitantly.
As soon as he left, the Team swarmed the traffic light ninja. "Robin, are you alright?" Megan asked.
The Boy Wonder gritted his teeth, "Fine, everything's just asterous."
Aqualad frowned, "Robin, we are a team, if something is wrong, you should tell us."
"I'm fine!" The resident ninja sighed. 'This won't last long, they'll get a clue in an hour at most.'
Five hours later
"Are you sure you're okay?" M'gann asked as she mixed a bowl of cookie dough.
Robin growled from the counter, "For the last time, I'm fine!"
Kid Flash sent a sympathetic glance at his friend, "Guys, just leave him alone, it's obvious he doesn't' want to talk." His best friend (AKA Robin) sighed, nodded to KF, and silently left the room. No one noticed.
"Oh yeah, Baywatch? Why don't you tell us what's wrong with him then!" Artemis snapped, glaring at the speedster.
"No can do Artie," Wally responded without his usual cheek. "I promised I wouldn't tell, even had to swear on a Bible!"
The archer frowned, "But-"
"Look, guys," he interrupted, "if I could tell you, I would, but I promised."
Superboy growled, "So what?"
"Bats, and I mean the Batfamily, not just Batman, take promises very seriously," Wally and Robin said in unison, dead serious.
The entire team jumped at Robin's sudden appearance, then sighed. "Can't you-"

The Dark Knight appeared from the Zeta Tubes. "Robin, you have a piano lesson in ten minutes."
"…What?"
"What?"
"Huh?"
…What? Oh, oops. Um…the traffic light ninja looked confused, but trotted over to the Bat and disappeared through the Zeta tube.
When they appeared back in Gotham Robin frowned, "But piano lessons are on Sundays. Today's Wednesday!"
The cowled man smirked, "I know."
The Dark Squire realized what his mentor meant, "Oh!"
Twenty minutes later, they were out of costume and stood in the cemetery. Dick smiled slightly as he laid 39 flowers in front of a grave. "Happy Birthday, Dad."
