Once again I seemed to have found myself, on bended knee, asking for her hand in marriage. Why I constantly have my right knee coated with dust and scraped from the cement for this woman I don't understand. Wait, yes I do, because of him.
"Sigh, Shikamaru why do we constantly find ourselves in this situation? Knowing what my answer will be every time? Better yet, do you even like me, let alone love me?" Sakura said while pulling me up from the ground.
My eyes narrowed with a hint of anger, "I like you enough. Just say yes so we can stop this routine"
Sakura eyes averted to the side while starting to slightly bite her bottom lip, "Shika-kun you can stop now. Naruto will be happy regardless if you fail. You did the best you could do, and tried many times as well. I'm sorry friend, but I cannot marry you"
"More like will not," I said. I slowly brought my hand up to cup the side of her face and turn her head so I stared right back into emerald.
"You need to let go Sakura. You're hanging on to dead men when you are breathing and living. Do not let them keep your life on pause. They, and all your other friends, would not want that."
Her eyes started to gather clear gems of liquid and the rain started to drizzle down her face. Before I knew it, arms where around my neck and a face was squeezed into my chest.
"Why do you want this so hard? We don't even love each other," was muffled from my chest.
I slid my hands down to rest on her head and I started to run my fingers through her tresses, "Because everyone needs someone Sakura. We might not love each other, but we do hang on each other when needed. We cling to each other because we do not have who we really want in our arms. I think that is good enough. Don't you?"
Her head leaned away from my chest and she tilted her eyes up at me, "I do, but is this good enough?"
"We'll just have to see."
