A/N: Just a quick ficlet that came to mind on Daisy and Miller meeting.
-FISH FINGERS-
Ellie Miller was, like most Saturday mornings, in a supermarket.
And Daisy Hardy was, unlike most Saturday mornings, in a supermarket.
Strolling down the aisles, Daisy checked the shopping list on her phone, nearly colliding into an open fridge door with her trolley. She was defiantly not used to doing this. It was always mum who did the shopping, and her and dad who did the eating, but now that dad was around and mum was getting hormonal again, she was stuck buying the groceries. God, how she could not stand another night of take-out, and dad poking questions at her about Dave, and mum nagging her to go study.
Daisy parked her trolley where she hoped no one would bump into it, and strolled to the freezer aisle.
Frozen Cordon Bleus? The world just became a better place! Wait no… they have mushrooms in them.
Not that her dad would eat fancy food like that anyway. She should settle for something basic, not that they had frozen salad. She pondered upon how skinny her father would look if there was frozen salad available. Then she saw it, something he'd defiantly eat. Daisy reached for a box of fish fingers, only to find another woman taking it.
"Sorry." She apologized quickly to the woman, shuffling back a few steps.
She met the woman's gaze, who gave her a small smile.
"Is this the last one?" she sighed, "Pity. I'd thought they'd have more stock at a mall." Ellie said, gazing at the girl. She has to be sixteen – seventeen at the most, Ellie guessed. The girl looked spooked that a stranger was talking to her, but relaxed a second later.
"Well, you can have it." Ellie said, handing the box to the girl.
"Nah, you take it. Looks like you have kids." She said, pointing to Goofy toy in Ellie's trolley. Ellie smiled at Fred's Goofy, which she still got for him while they were in Florida.
"Yeah, I have kids. It's fine, though. You can take it." Ellie offered.
This girl was pretty. Deep blue eyes. Ellie thought that she recognised the girl from somewhere, put decided against it. The last time she and Lucy thought they recognised someone in a pub, it turned out to not be Elton John at all, but Lucy's ex's brother. She smiled at the memory.
"Sure your kids won't miss it?" Daisy asked.
"Pretty sure." Ellie said, "I've bought lots of Easter eggs for the one, and the other got a new Xbox game today."
"Thank god. My dad is so picky, I doubt he'll eat anything but this." Daisy acknowledged, clenching the box under her arm.
Ellie smiled. It made her think of a certain grumpy-arse Scot that walked out her life.
"Thank you." Daisy said, nodding her head at the woman.
"Pleasure. I hope he eats it."
"So do I." Daisy agreed, watching the woman walk off. What a nice lady. At least some people in this world wasn't out to annoy her with awkward conversations, or nag her about her marks. Just the coat, she thought, surveying the woman walk off in her orange monstrosity. She could do with a nicer coat.
