"Andy? Andy, where are you going?"
I jump, although I'm not surprised at Narcissa's voice from the doorway. I turn and smile at my baby sister. Even though she's fifteen now, I still call her that. She gets so frustrated with me. "I'm leaving, Cissy."
She comes in and sits on my bed. She's still so young, so impressionable. She would be the only reason I would stay. She tugs on a piece of her blonde hair. She looks so much like Mother. "Where will you go?"
She doesn't ask me why.
I pile the last of my clothes in my trunk. Thank Merlin for Undetectable Extension Charms.
I sit down beside my sister. "Cissy, you've seen me with Ted Tonks around school, haven't you?" I just finished my seventh year; Cissy, her fifth.
She nods.
I put my arm around her, praying Bella doesn't choose now to come see where we are.
Bella's just been married to that horrid Lestrange boy. I can only pray that she doesn't do something totally stupid and drastic, but I know that she will. She was always taunting someone in school, always had a book about the Dark Arts behind her Defense textbook. I worry about Bella almost more than I do Cissy. But Cissy I can have an impact on. Bella is nineteen and won't listen to me, her silly little sister. Me and my ideas about love. She just laughs at me. Her marriage is her duty to the family, even though I know she doesn't love Rodolpho or whatever his name is.
"Well, Cissy, let me tell you a secret," I say. "You know that Bella doesn't love her husband."
Cissy nods. "Mother told us that it's not necessary."
"I say that it is, Cissy."
She looks at me, her blue eyes wide.
"I love Ted," I tell her, "and he's asked me to marry him."
"Are you going to?" is her calm reply. I drop my arm from her shoulders.
"Yes."
"You'll be disowned, Andy," she says.
My voice is quiet. "I know."
"Is he worth it?" she asks me.
"Love is worth it, Cissy." I bite back my tears, hoping I can make some impact on my sister. "Cissy, promise me something."
"Anything, Andy," she says, and I know she loves me.
I stand and scan my childhood room again. I've left nothing behind. I pull Ted's engagement ring from my pocket and slip it on. "Actually, two things. First, never lose contact with me, baby sister. And secondly, promise me that at some point in your life, you will love."
She looks slightly confused. "But I love you, Andy."
I kiss the top of her head. "I know you do, flower. But you have to. Promise me that one day, you'll love your husband. And if not your husband, then your children. Because love is important, Cissy. Love never fails."
"Yes, Andy," she says.
I haul my trunk toward the door, knowing that Ted will be here any moment. "One more thing about love, Sister," I say. "It makes you do crazy things."
And with that, I head down stairs to tell my family that I'm marrying a Muggleborn.
A/N: I'm really not sure where this came from. Would any of you maybe like to see a couple of letters between Andy and Cissy? Let me know. :)
