"Either you die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

I looked out over the battlefield. We were losing, again. I don't understand what has happened to our righteous cause. We were slaves, bots built for battle, ones that didn't have shiny paint or sparked to privilege. When we tried to talk to the council they ignored us or told us that we had no rights. We should have we were bots just like them.

No we were and are better than those bots. We rose up so we wouldn't starve, so our sparklings could have a better life than we did. How did it go so wrong? The screaming sound of seekers cut across the battle and I watched as they transformed. Starscream was my second because how powerful and how intelligent he was…is. How do I keep forgetting he was a scientist before all this?

Seekers in general were dying out before the war. They were believed to only be battle drones with no real reason to exist. They barely scraped by with the small energon rations they were given. Yet when the rebellion started the council had issued a mass genocide of seeker offspring. After that Starscream came to me and pledged the allegiance of his trine to me. The rest of seekers followed with a few exceptions. Where did it turn bad?

I truly thought it would be as simple as abolishing the council and assigning more accepting bots like Orion or Starscream. They both had changed so much. Starscream has lost his mind like so many others. Orion Pax had become Optimus Prime and I lost my brother to the other side.

I…I guess an assassination wasn't the best idea but our resources were running low so that was the quickest way. It didn't turn out like it should have. We were to rebuild my brother and I but the world turned on us. We had been right and we're still right. Right?

We need to survive but so many have lost the ones they love because of what has happened. Ravage bolted past me leaping at one of the others. Soundwave and his sparklettes were such an example. They had been something close to a family with the bot Blaster. Yet the sparklettes were just as mistreated as the seekers. They would be kicked, picked on, shoved and crushed because they were smaller. They weren't real bots.

Soundwave came to me for their protection. He had tried to convince Blaster but the bot was convinced that they didn't need to take a side too soon. Still by the time Blaster was ready to choose my side looked like the bad guys. Soundwave donned his faceless visor and slit his vocal cables swearing never to speak. He has never once let a medic repair them. I think they are beyond repair now.

I wanted equality on Cybertron. I wanted peace and to see bots do what they were good at. How did it go so wrong? We were to be heroes, no be the saviors of Cybertron. Now there is no Cybertron, no peace, no equality, nothing but the bleakness of battle.

After so long that darkness has twisted my spark. I know it but I can't stop it. I want to see Starscream working in a lab and laughing with his friend Jetfire. I want Soundwave to be able to see Blaster without worrying that his sparklettes are in danger. I want to surrender and give up this endless war.

But I can't, I have no say any more. The darkness changed my name to Megatron and together we will defeat the Autobot scum, but…but not today.

"Decepticons Retreat!"

Author Note: So what's up! This was a bit that popped in my head when I saw a quote online. I'm going with a little AU from the G1-verse but I kinda like it. Thanks for the support guys. Good Reading!
