It was pouring rain but she didn't care. Sitting on her roof, Ellyanna thought. Her boyfriend, Hunter, had just told her that he taking Marissa to the spring fling. This was an omen, she was sure of it. Why would Hunter take Marissa instead of her? It just didn't make sense. Despite the rain she got a sudden chill. She looked to right and saw him. Her best friend Josh had died in a car crash four years ago, on their way to her thirteenth birthday at the zoo. It was a surprise that her mother and Josh died when she had survived. Ever since then she had seen and been able to communicate with the dead.

"Why is this happening to me?" She turned to Josh waiting for an answer. She heard his voice in her head.

'He doesn't know what he's missing. But I suggest you stay away from him. Let him down easy.' She was about to ask what that was supposed to mean when a clap of thunder sounded and Josh was gone. She got up and started to walk to the wall so she could get down when she slipped. Flying through the air she wished she would just break her neck so it would all be over quickly. "Yes I'm fine. Now answer my question." She demanded to know. How was it that he'd shown up just in time to see her fall and catch her just a few seconds before hitting the ground? It just wasn't natural. But she had to admit that it felt good to be in his arms again.

"I just- I just had to see you." Hunter admitted shamefully. She scoffed and turned away.

"Leave Hunter. I don't want to be with you. Go fool around with that whore Marissa. Not me." She couldn't go inside so instead she started walking down the street to her friend Pleasant's house. She didn't hear Hunter come up behind her. He grabbed her wrist causing her to jerk to a stop.

"What do you want Hunter? Because I'm pretty sure I just told you we are through." He was glaring at her. What was his problem? It's not like he wanted to be with her anyway. He was the one that asked Marissa to the dance. Not her.

"Elly just listen to me for one second." Hunter pleaded.

"No! Now get your hands off of me!" Ellyanna wrenched her wrist out of Hunter's grasp. Then shoved him causing him to fall in the middle of the street right when a Chevy was speeding down it not showing any sign of slowing down……
