A/N: This is an original little ficklet. I got the idea from "La Jenia". Please read and review.

Chasing Away Monsters
"One un-American unbuttered popcorn." Mulder calls and places the bowl on the coffee table in front of Scully.
"Thanks." Scully says as she curls her legs up under her.
"What are we watching?" The red head asks.
"You'll see."
--
Scully's eyes are shut tight. Her face is tightly pressed into her gray t-shirt clad partners side. His arm is wrapped around her as she tries to steady her breath. His cologne fills her nose, her mind.
"Dana," Mulder chuckles, "how can you work in the X-files and be scared of this fake nonsense."
"Shut up." Dana groans.
Fox's hand smoothes her hair.
"Tell me when it's over." she cries.
"Oh, that'll be in another hour and…" Fox teases.
"Just this part."
A scream is heard on the TV and Scully cuddles deeper into Mulder's side.
"I understand now." Mulder realizes.
"What?!"
"Teenage boys. They have their girlfriend over to watch movies, like this," he gestures briefly at the television, "it scares them to death, but I guess their girl falls into their lap, literally, so…"
Scully smacks his chest with an open hand.
"Hey!" Her brunette partner scolds as he gently grabs her fingers, "pay attention."
"Uhh." Scully moans.
Mulder chuckles and it shakes his whimpering partners frame.
"How am I ever going to sleep tonight?"
"Easy," Mulder assures, "I'll bunk on your couch, keep the monsters away."
"How ironic. 'Spooky' Mulder chasing the monsters away." Scully teases.
"Only for his girl." Mulder assures.
--
The blinding red numbers on the old black alarm clock show it's one in the morning. Scully growls at her over vivid imagination and crawls out of bed. Images of the earlier hour fill her head. Mulder, at the conclusion of the movie, had piled her in her car and driven her to her apartment. He had then carried her inside turning on every light in her little apartment as he went, tucked her in, kissed her forehead and settled himself on her couch.
Scully approaches the fridge to get herself a glass of water, when something warm wraps around her. She screams.
"Shh, shh, It's me." Mulder apologizes as he pulls her back into him.
"I've dreamed of nothing but homicidal marionettes for the last two hours Mulder." Scully states.
"Well, don't worry… next week we'll watch Signs."
"As long as you chase the monsters away." Scully sighs and turns to give Mulder a quiet kiss on the jaw.
He chuckles, smiles her and carries her back to bed.
A/N: What did you think? Let me know.
