Sokka opened one eye, observing his friends as they slept in the light of the full moon. All of them were sound asleep, so he sneakily crept out of his sleeping and tiptoed towards the river at the edge of the forest.

Sokka smiled as he walked, happy that it was finally a full moon.

He would finally get to see her.

Sokka tried to keep himself from running as he approached the water.

"Yue?" he called out, searching for her apparition.

"I'm here Sokka." the girl's voice whispered back to him, causing the waterfront boy to turn around.

A goofy grin filled up his face, "Yue!" he exclaimed, the water beneath him splashing as he moved excitedly.

The white haired girl smiled at him and they embraced, as they did every full moon when they got to see each other.

The two laughed and talked throughout the night, the time seeming to fly by as they spent it in each others company.

"It's almost dawn." Yue said, looking down at the water.

Sokka put his arm around her as they stood up, "I love these nights Yue, I wouldn't trade them for anything."

"Sokka, you're wasting your time with me." she said, looking up with tears in her eyes.

"What do you mean?"

"There's no future for us. We only see each other every thirty days, Sokka. Don't you see? We can't be together."

"But, we're together right now! I love you Yue."

She shook her head, "A bird may love a fish, Sokka. But where would they live?"

He stood there, dumbstruck as she began to disappear from view. He reached forward and placed a kiss on her cheek as she left, not to return for another month.

Sokka thought about what she had said as he walked back to his camp. The sun was well above the horizon, yet Sokka still had not found an answer to Yue's question.

He sighed, at least he had until the next full moon to figure it out.
