The bell to the coffee shop dinged in the morning air and Catra looked up sharply from her place at the register only for her shoulders to slump in disappointment. "Welcome to Hordak's Coffee House. How may I help you today?" She droned.
"Catra, my name's Kyle! I've been coming here most days for years..." Her customer said despairingly.
"Aw, don't take her bad mood personally, Kyle!",Scorpia said, coming out of the kitchen, clasping a tray of fresh cookies in her claws. "Adora hasn't come by yet today and Catra's getting antsy."
"It is NOT because of that!" Catra insisted as she made Kyle's regular order. "I hadn't even noticed she wasn't here." Just then, the door chimed once more and Catra's back straightened as Adora walked in, a glint forming in Catra's eyes that Scorpia knew all too well.
"I'd better finish up your order, Kyle." Scorpia said good naturedly. "You want your scone heated up, right?"
Catra sauntered back over to the register, cocking her hip as Adora made her way to the counter to order. "Hey Adora." She purred, her eyes meeting Adora's blue ones defiantly.
"Catra!" Adora muttered, narrowing her eyes. "One long black."
"No please? Wow, Adora. What would Glimmer and Bow say?"
"One long black. Please." Adora gritted out. Catra smirked, and Adora told herself that it did not look good on her at all. Not even a little bit.
"One long black, coming right up." Catra said, taking her credit card and leaning over to boop Adora on the nose, loving how her eyes widened in surprise.
Adora went to find a seat only for Kyle to plop down next to her, latte, scone and freshly baked cookies Scorpia had showered him with on hand. She gladly took a biscuit he offered before he asked her timidly,"Adora, didn't Entrapta give you that really nice coffee machine for your birthday? Why do you still come here every morning?"
They were interrupted by Catra placing Adora's mug of coffee down on their table and leaning a lot closer to Adora than was probably needed. Adora froze at how close Catra's face suddenly was to hers, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks. "Your coffee, princess." Catra murmured, her eyes also fixed on Adora, before turning on her heel, her tail caressing Adora's arm as she left.
"Adora?" Kyle asked, seeing Adora's eyes follow Catra's retreating figure back to the register.
"Huh?" She said, turning back to him. "Oh, I just really like the coffee here."
