"Do you promise you'll come back soon?" Bella teased Edward as he loaded the last of his bags into the trunk of his car. She giggled as he pulled her close and pressed his lips to hers, but even in this newfound intimate kiss she could still feel him holding back and she longed for him to just give into his passionate urges. She sighed as he pulled back and rested her head on his solid chest.
"I promise, I'll be no more than two weeks. I'm going to force Jasper to hunt so much the thought of blood makes him sick." Edward teased loudly so that Jasper who walked towards them could hear his words.
"Haha." Jasper sighed and hugged Alice murmuring something into her ear and looking apologetic. Bella could feel Edward shift but she didn't ask what why Jasper was sorry; it was meant to be private after all. Besides she knew what the matter was. Her wedding to Edward was rapidly approaching, distant relatives she hadn't even known existed were flying from all over the country to come – she should have known her mother would spread the word to the farthest corners of the country. Jasper deciding to act on the saying 'better safe than sorry' had spoke about an idea about going hunting for a few weeks to try and control his bloodlust and to make sure he was full so there were no...mishaps.
"Two weeks?" Bella asked pulling back from Edward as he opened the door.
"Two weeks." He repeated with a slight nod, leaning over he brushed his ice-cold lips against her cheek and slipped into his car. Stepping backwards so she stood beside Alice, Bella waved goodbye watching the car speed off into the distance. Neither she nor Edward had any idea at that point that, that would be the last time he saw her alive.
