Chloe walked around her Barden dorm room aimlessly for a few seconds, before growing increasingly impatient and beginning to tap her foot on the carpeted floor. Unsatisfied with the muffled sound, the redhead marched to the bathroom door and banged angrily on it with the smaller end of her fist.

"AUBREY POSEN!" She yelled her roommate's name with some gusto, her hands falling from the door frame and landing on her slim hips. "Will you please hurry up?"

"Yeah, I just have to finish my makeup and get dressed. Give me half an hour, Chlo." Chloe grew quickly frustrated of her best friend's lack of speed. The irony of the situation was that it would usually be Chloe in the bathroom, taking hours to groom herself, and the neat blonde standing at the door yelling at her to hurry up and get to her lit class. Something about the Bellas just made Aubrey aspire to be perfect all the time. Especially for the activities fair... Especially since the incident at the ICCA Finals last year.

"Half an hour? You must be joking"

"You go on ahead and set up without me then." The blonde replied calmly, her speech softened by the dull buzz of an electric tooth brush in the background. Chloe pondered silently for a few moments, before agreeing with her blonde friend and picking up her purse from the nearby twinbed.

"I'll see you soon, Brey." She bid goodbye through the bathroom door. "Try not to take too long, okay?"

"Well, my dad always said 'If you don't look perfect for a day like today, you may as wel-" The other girl's voice was cut off by the sound of the dorm door slamming. Chloe sighed and put her earphones in, she began to sing softly to herself as she walked through the dormitory corridor.

"I'm bulletproof, nothing to lose. Fire away, fire..." She came to a slow stop as a feeling came over her, like she was being watched, like she could hear another voice singing the alto harmonies to her soprano. The redhead pulled out an earbud, and listened cautiously for a few seconds - nothing but the distant chatter of students on the quad outside. She shook her head at herself, shaking off the sense of eeriness and continuing to sing the next verse to herself, albeit slightly more reserved this time.

After only a few minutes of swift walking, Chloe arrived at the Barden Bellas' pitch for the fair. She somehow managed to set up the big Bella's Banner and a table full of leaflets all by herself. It was almost two full hours until she was reunited with her room mate, who apparently 'couldn't find her foundation', in which time a meager forty people had visited the stall. Aubrey had had enough already, having only been there for 15 minutes, when she realised that not even Bologna Barb was willing to join the Bella's this year. Chloe sighed and wandered off, taking a seat under the shade of a tree, beside a small pond at the west of the campus. Nobody really visited this area, except the high notes during their nightly "club meetings." Chloe had only discovered the pond midway through her first year, when her Lit TA used to hit on her and she needed somewhere to escape too. She was sure that Aubrey had no problem with her taking a break, and the blonde could surely manage alone, so the redhead just sat there, in that spot, under the tree and sang softly to herself, until she started to drift to sleep. Chloe was almost asleep when she heard a croaky voice to her side

"Hello, Chloe Beale - I've been watching you for some time now..." And with that the girl was more awake than anybody had ever been before.
