I Remember You
. . .
Those three little words. Such meaning they hold, stories they uncover and relationships they empower.
. . .
"No! No! Noo!" A petite brunette rushed her way across the store in a heartbeat, "You can't touch that shelf. Only employees." She did a small flip of her curl, hoping to impress.
The blonde let out a chuckle, lifting his hands up and stepping back to allow the wide-eyed girl accomplish her goals.
Her curls, her smile, the way her hips moved when she stepped around him.
I remember her.
She nonchalantly leaned over, snatching the first blue violin whose glimmer caught her eye.
"Here you are!" She pronounced gleefully, extending the string instrument.
A crash and loud bang shortly followed afterwards. Ally Dawson spun around quickly, gasping quietly and flushing with embarrassment as she glanced at the mess of wood and strings on the ground.
Austin Moon smiled in newfound love and swirled her to face him.
"Hi, I'm Austin Moon. You're in math, right?"
Ally cocked her head in wonder, "Yeah. I remember you." Ally did a quick scoff and a giggle,
"You're not very good at math."
. . .
The way the sun flashed across her skin, it glimmered. She let out a laugh as she bounced into the waves. He wished he could be the waves, catching her as she fell into the water.
"Austin! Hey, yo, catch!" The volleyball smacked him squarely in the chest, and he unwillingly tore his gaze from Ms. Ally Dawson.
Who as he had learned, was very good at math.
"Yeah yeah. In a little bit." He threw the white rubber ball in his buddy's direction and ran off down to the shore.
He shyly stood around, kicking the water a bit, ignoring the giggling girls sun bathing just a couple of feet ahead. He solely had eyes for her. Math girl.
Let's take this chance. He tentatively stepped into the water and swam towards her.
He popped up just a few inches away and gently scooped water into his hand. With a flip of his hand he splashed her precisely on her neck.
"Hey!" Ally whirled around, her giggling freezing when she noticed the blonde boy.
"Uh I remember you from Sonic Boom." He mumbled, regretting his forwardness. His confidence had always gotten him into some form of trouble.
"Hah oh yeah." Ally rubbed her neck, reminiscing in the memories. A lively shade of pink covered his cheeks.
"You're not a very good employee." He teased her back.
. . .
He casually strolled down the sidewalk, a book bag tossed over his shoulder and he scrolled through his phone, smiling as he read Ally's latest text.
The new book store. Of course that would be the one place she would be huddled.
The doorbell jingled as he stepped through the small shop. His presence already seemed too large in the cramp place.
He quietly shuffled his way through the shelves and tables, searching through the familiar warm brown hair that he recognized.
The warm brown hair that somedays smelled of strawberries and other days of coconut. . .
He peeked down the aisle, grinning when he successfully came across a young girl with her nose tucked into a book. Giggling like a schoolboy, he walked around the aisle, tip-toeing quietly behind her.
He crouched down and whispered by her ear.
"Heyy, I feel like I remember you."
. . .
She looked beautiful.
No, beautiful was an underestimate. She looked . . . he couldn't finish the sentence. He was absolutely speechless.
The way her dress outlined her hips and the fashion that her hair fell in tendrils down her back.
She stood quietly at the bottom of her stairs, her fingers curled softly around the railing.
She smiled, before stepping forward and slipping her fingers into her boyfriend's hand.
"Do you remember me?" She poked his cheek, adoringly.
"Of course." His mouth covered hers.
