A/N: My very first filk! It's Daria bitching about her life *shocker!* and it is to the tune of No Doubt's "Simple Kind of Life." Not
only is this my first filk, it is my first venture into humor (bare with me) and into the Daria fandom (I usually write Roswell and Harry
Potter fics.) So read, enjoy, and please, don't be too harsh. *twitches.*
Disclaimer: "Simple Kind of Life" belongs to No Doubt. "Daria" belongs to MTV. This filk is not meant to mock the members of No
Doubt (because they kick butt!) or to make fun of the "Daria" series (because Daria is my fave cartoon.) And the part that says
"Buffy with low ratings" refers to "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," which belongs to the WB. So, go away, you pesky lawyers!
For a long time, I had no friends
Not only no friends, I had no life (A/N: I know Daria STILL doesn't have a life, but, hey...)
With an anger that had always been pent up
Now that has changed, I'm letting it out.
And all I wanted was to kill the Fashion Club
A sarcastic kind of life.
And all I need was a machine gun,
But I did not have one.
I'm such a freak, you don't have to say it
I don't know how I haven't lost my mind
I always was the one who Quinn called her cousin,
That's still the same, at least I can deal.
Like an episode of Buffy with low ratings
All I need is to be left to rot,
A sarcastic kind of life.
If your nose-job grew out, would it make me laugh?
The answer is of course yes
Anything to make you cry.
I always thought it'd be best to shut up
But I do no wish for the old days
If only I could leave this damn forsaken town,
If I can't leave Lawndale, neither will you.
Now all these cynisms are so very typical of me
How'd I get into my weird family
An adopted kind of life.
When all I ever wanted was the sarcastic things,
A sarcastic kind of life.
