Warning: my english could be the worst you ever read in your entire life!
It was strange, the entire day was strange. The Master Chief missed something...or someone. This 'someone' was nobody else, than the A.I Cortana.
In the morning Dr. Halsey has ordered that Cortana needs to help the raw recruits. After this only few hours have passed, but for the Chief it felt like it's been ages since he last heard something from Cortana. It was only a trifle that Cortana wasn't by his side, but it felt so wrong, it was so wrong. He realized that he was totally addicted to her presence, which he normally felt every day, since years ago. But the biggest problem about all of this was that he didn't know when Cortana will return. She could be a day or a week, probably a month away and help the recruits. This thought and the thought of her being by the side of another man and act like she did around him didn't solve his Problem, no it made it even worse.
But he didn't let anyone notice his absence and he did his job perfectly like he always did, but his thought of Cortana and his uneasily feeling didn't leave him. Nevertheless he concentrated on his missions, because at first he thought that missions would make his mind clear, but then he realized that because of them the feeling about the absence of Cortana gets even stronger.
After his last mission some recruits he didn't know come to him and said: "Dr. Halsey wants you to come to her office." The Master Chief only gave them a sign that he understood and went directly to Dr. Halseys' office. At the front of her office he stopped and knocked first. Not even a second later he stormed more or less in her office. She already knew what he wanted and gave him the chip. He didn't rush to speak to Cortana, even if he really wanted to, but he waited until he was alone.
He put the Chip in his helmet and a female voice asked: "Have you missed me?" In the moment he heard Cortanas voice the feeling of relief and happiness run through his body and even if he didn't want to, Cortana noticed this, but tried to hold back her typical smile. John didn't say anything he only watched every motion of the hologram in front of him and possibly he didn't wanted to say that he missed her.
"Oh come on John, we both know the truth. Just say it." She tried to make him say it out loud and after a few tries, she was successful.
"I missed you." He admitted defeated. Concurrently he swore to himself that after this day he wouldn't let her go, even if it was ordered, not for a single moment. She belongs to him, to the Mater Chief not to a regular recruit.
Cortana smiled satisfied to hear his words and his thought but there was something she couldn't knew, because she couldn't see it.
Under his helmet John has a little smile on his lips, since he knew exactly that Cortana felt the same way he did.
I must say this was my first english fanfiction and if there are any mistakes please tell me.
