A/N: So I wrote this on a stormy day forever ago and if any of you cry you can blame gossipssweetlips for asking me to post this! It's all your fault! P.S. It's really short but oh well.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was her. Her soft breathing. Her heart beating steadily. He tried to focus on her, hoping he would fall back to sleep with her. He knew he probably wouldn't. He liked watching her too much.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was his own heart. It was beating as if it was going to speed out of his chest. He tried to focus on her. She was dressed in white, walking on her father's arm. Again the wind rushed against the side of the church. A smile crept onto his face. His heart beat slowed down.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was his daughter's heart. The sound flooded the room. A river of emotions flooded the room. He was crying. The fast pace beat meant that he was one step closer to holding her in his arms.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was his son's labored breathing. He gasped for air. His tiny rib cage rising and falling at an uneven pace. His little face flushing red from lack of oxygen. He feared for the baby's new life.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was his family's sobs. His wife's cries louder than everyone's. He stared at the casket thinking there was something he could have done to stop it. He came up blank. His son was gone, and that's all that mattered.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was her. Her sobbing. She gasped for breath. She was on a downward spiral. She probably hadn't eaten for days. Her heart beat was softer than he had ever heard before. And he knew that there was nothing he could do to make her feel better.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was a crash. He felt it next. It jarred him forward. His first thought was of his girls. He hoped they were all right, but with how things had been going lately he didn't know. He hadn't seen the other driver coming. He might have just cost his family their life.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was the emptiness of the room. Toys left in their scattered places. Her clothes thrown all over the room. The pink walls made him feel guilty. It was all his fault. Their daughter was gone.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was her crying. They hadn't asked for this. It was happening, and at the worst possible time. They didn't really want a baby, especially because they just lost both of their children. It sobered them up from their depression a bit. They had something else to focus on.
The wind howled, but all he could hear was two heart beats. Twins. A girl and a boy. They knew their new additions were blessed by their older siblings. The kids had been watching over them, bringing them new joy.
