Mayu sighed as she watched Zero glance at Yuuki again, for once she wished that he would glance her way. Mayu had grown up with Zero and Yuuki, having been Chairman Cross's actual daughter. As she grew older her feelings for Zero grew, but it seemed that he loved Yuuki and not her. The bell rang indicating the end of school and Yuuki ran over to her,"Onee-san, you've seemed a little down lately are you alright?" Mayu paused from gathering her things suprised that she had noticed, I guess thatI haven't been hiding it as well as i thought I was, *sigh* she really is a sweetgirl it's no wonder Zero loves her. Zero came up behind Yuuki and gave her an alomst indecipherable concerned glance but said nothing waiting for her to answer Yuuki. "Ah, don't worry imouto-chan I'm fine, really, I'm just a little tired from all the patrols is all," she smiled brightly to help prove her point even as her heart throbbed in her chest. I hate lying to them but I can't just come out and say what's wrong, it might ruin our friendship. Yuuki and Zero both looked at her suspiciously before Yuuki finally sighed and relented,"Alright then just try to get some rest please," turning she left the classroom after throwing one more worried look over her shoulder at Mayu. Zero gave Mayu a long hard stare, "If somethings bothering you, I won't force you to tell us but it might help if you do," Mayu watched as he left the room as well. I wish that I could but it's just not that simple.
Besides a couple of fan girls trying to sneak around, patrol had gone by rather uneventfully. It was now time for Zero, Yuuki, and herself to meet up before going to their dorms to sleep. Pausing by the fountain, Mayu looked down at her reflection, she was a rather average looking girl in her opinion. She had mid-back lenght straight hair almost the exact same color as her father only it was a few shades brighter with her bangs grown out to frame her face. To her though her eyes were the only thing worth noticing, they were a really pretty bright aqua color with silver flecks now though they looked a bit dull and had bags under them form lack of sleep. Frowning down at her reflection Mayu knew she would never be as pretty as Yuuki was. "What are you doing it's time to head back," a familiar voice called from behind her. Gasping she quickly turned to face the speaker," Zero, I-I um, w-well I just stopped to think about something for a moment, but it was nothing all that important." Zero gave the rather flustered looking girl a hard stare before turning his head with a huff,"Che, you've been acting rather distant lately, it's starting to get on my nerves." Knowing him for so long Mayu knew that was his way of saying that he was worried, touched, she felt a small smile start to creep across her face." I'm alright, I've just had a lot on my mind lately, I'll be back to normal soon, you don't have to worry." Zero gave her one more hard look before letting his eyes soften slightly. "Good, it's really wierd to see you so down, come on let's go you look as though you could use some sleep," and with that he started walking on ahead. Mayu's smile became bigger until it became a fullblown grin. Maybe...just maybe I still have a chance, I think I'll keep up hope and try a little harder from now on. Hope rekindled Mayu ran to catch up with Zer who had stopped to wait on her.
