Kakashi glared down the blade of his ANBU blade. He was a genious, a prodigy who possessed the sharingan eye, and the master of over one thousand jutsus. He stared intently, trying to recall the various splatters that had painted this sword throughout his missions. How many times had he ended a career with a single stroke, or severed a dream in a slash of steel through tendons?
He calmly let down his hand, and started when it brushed against the kunai in his pack. Yes, the kunai was a different tool all together. It was a tool just as versed in digging crops, or weeding fields on a D rank job as it was sailing towards an enemy heart. His teacher, his sensei, had given him one like no other. That special tool had been given to save, to protect his student. This edge that only took, the guilty blade of the faceless ANBU that he held now had no remorse. It was a tool that excelled in the kill; for the three years an agent was to survive, this sword would serve as never tiring dolor of clean and efficient death to whomever it faced.
Silence filled the room.
It was quiet now, it was always quiet. Quiet until the kill, when the steel sang out and the reality of another screamed out of existence...it shed red tears for the newly departed...and then silence. Even when the time came, and he too fell to a faceless ghost, the blade would not speak. It wouldn't weep for him, or cry for the legacy he failed to leave behind. It would lie in wait for a new tool to make it sing. It failed to protect him. It didn't care for him any more than the men it killed, but his master had. His kunai intercepted the attack, and allowed his student to grow into the legendary copy ninja. Kakashi stole a glance at the blade once more as the gleam fell away into the sheathe. He set it in a cupboard mount, and shut the cabinet doors. He had spent more years than he rightfully deserved living for himself, but now it was done. He checked the security of the tiny silver bells tied to his waist, and pulled the kunai from his pouch with a twirl. "Hatake Kakashi, Jounin of the Leaf Village, ready for active duty."
Oh, it's just a little diddy I wrote a year ago to help with some writer's block. Same old story about finding something on an old computer, and decided to upload it for funzies. If you're like me, you're probably trying to imagine what I look like in front of an old computer going through dusty files about now, and if you weren't you probably actually are now. Of course if you're not like me, you're probably staring blankly at your screen thinking about you aren't thinking that at all. But I digress… Feel free to leave a review about the always cool Kakashi.
