An Unrelaxing Shaved Ice
It was nice to relax after everything, but something was holding them all back.
In truth, they knew what it was. It was the why they wandered about, were suspicious about. Why Taisha claimed to know nothing, and yet were sure their ailments were temporary things. Why the ailments were so…odd, unrelated to their battle. It wasn't like Itsuki had taken a blow to the throat after all, or screamed her lungs out. It wasn't like Mimori had anything blow up right next to one ear so that she lost all hearing in it but the other got away in tact. It wasn't like Fu had taken any shrapnel to the eye, or Yuna had bit off her tongue or the nerve that supplied it.
The trip to the hotsprings was nice, but they had that hanging over their heads and they couldn't relax.
And that wasn't all. It was easy to forget that Mimori couldn't hear out of one ear and Fu couldn't see out of one eye (if one ignored the eye-patch in that case), but not hearing Yuna get excited over the taste of something sweet was a stark reminder of her loss of taste, and Itsuki writing in her notebook was a constant reminder of her missing voice. And when the dessert came and Yuna ate a mouthful and didn't react and Itsuki ate a bit and shivered silently, the other girls looked sadly at their own desert and silently chipped away at it. Because they couldn't enjoy it to the fullest. They couldn't enjoy their entire trip to the fullest because of all those little missing bits to them.
