You thought Veronica's friends were a pack of idiots, losers, and ass-holes; but now you realise you were wrong. They're not any of the things you thought, they're so much better.
Wallace isn't the spineless geek you first thought; he's tough and sporty, and brave. He stands up for his friends and himself; and he's not even afraid to stand up to Veronica. He's on the basketball team, he's the kid everyone's going to watch play, but he's not conceited. And he's always helping Veronica, even when everyone else is running away. The Mars family loves him, and you're beginning to see why.
Mac isn't the quiet nerd you originally believed. She is a nerd, she's incredibly smart, but she's not a geek. She's kind, but still tough, and she's witty too. She's troubled, you know all about the whole switched at birth thing, and you do agree that it must be incredibly confusing to know you were switched with Madison Sinclair of all people. The 'What-Could-Of-Been's would eat you alive, but somehow she's survived. Her boyfriend turns out to be a murdering rapist. But she manages to keep living. She and Veronica are a lot alike; they're a lot better together than you first thought.
You always hated the Echolls kid. He was rich, famous, stuck-up, rude, arrogant, and you absolutely hated him. You never could work out what Veronica saw in him. But lately things have changed. You've realised that you and he are so much alike that it scares you. Because it turns out Logan's only an asshole to conceal his secret, just like you, and just like you he has a weakness for snarky blondes. He treats Veronica poorly sometimes, but he's always around when it counts, when she needs him. He loves her, and you hate that it's just one more thing you have in common.
You knew Weevil was bad news from when he was aged 12 and stole a stupid black bike. But it turns out, you were wrong, because he's not bad news, regardless of his appearance and criminal record. Sure he's a biker, and committed many crimes, but he cares about Veronica, and because of that you have to like him. He acts all tough but if V ever mentioned any problem, he'd come running. She's important to him, and no one's yet worked out why. He cares about people deeply, not just Veronica, but his friends, and especially his Grand-Ma. You can just see that he would hand over all the motorbikes in the world just to see the people he loves with smiles in place. He's not as tough and cruel as you've always known, and you're kind of sorry that you were so hard on him.
Meg reminds you of the old Veronica, and for that you thought she would hate her. But they get along, and you've yet to discover why. The old Veronica and Meg are almost the same person; both emotional, long-haired, blonde cheerleaders in love with DK. But the more you see of Meg the more you grasp the concept. Veronica doesn't care about that. She cares that Meg is loyal, kind, and can be sneaky at times. It's not about who Veronica was; it's about who she is. And who she is likes Meg. You thought Meg was spineless and bitchy like the rest of the 09ers, but she's not; Veronica always saw that, and now you do too.
You're beginning to understand. You can see why Veronica likes these people, and how wrong you were in your first impressions. Your ideas of these people were so so wrong, just proving that Veronica Mars is smarter than you. And that first impressions often lie.
