Link is a boy.
For Faye on deviantART who wanted me to do her a "(young)Link X Fierce Deity". This probably isn't anything at all what she had in mind... The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is property of Nintendo and co.
"Listen, I know what you are," the boy-who-is-now said gently to the mask-clad hollow shell of a boy-who-once-was, "and that's okay."
The mask with its lovingly crafted fierce gaze and its energetic war paint stared from the empty boyface at him as if it knew. It understood, it seemed, and for now that was alright.
"I don't have the Triforce of Courage anymore because of you," the boy-who-is-now continued, "but I'm fine with that. I'm fully prepared to accept any divine consequence resulting from the actions that I alone author."
Twinkling imperceptibly in the light that was not light at all, the mask stood still, all its energy and soul hanging indecisively in the balance.
He caressed its violent markings with a too-little hand, and the electricity of it traveled through them in a lonely shudder. The boy-who-is-now lifted the painted war mask from the face of the boy-who-once-was to place it on his own, and then (t)he(y) became the boy-who-will-be-
