A month ago Douglas Reynholm resigned from Reynholm Industries after having slept with so many of the staff, only the employees of the I.T. Department had not been victim to one of Douglas's many one night stands.

Applications to take over ownership had been released; current staff with experience could apply to become the new owner, along with people not working within the business who had the experience to become Reynholm Industries new owner. Obviously, Jen was the first person to apply. She had her application written since arriving to the business; she was ready and waiting for this moment to come. Roy and Maurice were of course fully behind Jen, although Maurice had secretly applied for the job behind their back. Although, it did not remain secret for long as he, when asked what he was doing on the computer (when he was actually applying for the job), said he was watching porn. The truth had come out, Maurice had applied for the job and Jen could no longer trust someone who she believed to be a friend anymore.

Three weeks later; Jen had received no confirmation that she had the job and was starting to worry. Although Roy was aware Maurice had also not got any confirmation, he believed it was best to neither tell Jen that Maurice had not received confirmation, nor to tell Maurice that Jen had not either. Paranoia began to grow with only a week left before it would be public knowledge as to who would be taking over the failing business.

Roy, Jen and Maurice flicked through their e-mail to find out who had taken ownership, with Jen and Maurice both knowing they had not been given the job but not knowing if the other had or had not been offered the job. When the name triggered no memory, Maurice and Jen peered over the top of their computer screens staring at each other. Roy joined their staring match a minute later, after having been disturbed from reading the e-mail by a PornHub tab he had not closed earlier that day. Silence surrounded the room like the aftermath of a rock concert when everyone exits and all that remains is the littered floor with the instruments on stage without their owners.

Two weeks had passed. Maurice and Jen were on speaking terms again and the I.T. Department had returned to the state it was in before the madness that the applications caused to their friendships. Roy had not received any phone calls for some time and to fill his time he spent hours on Friendface and had the occasional handy shandy before Jen and Maurice turned up for work.

Suddenly all three of them received an e-mail; it had a date, time and a place. The new owner of Reynholm Industries had set up a meeting for all the employees to meet them. The time had arrived to meet the person filling the position Maurice and Jen both believed they should of easily been in possession of.
