Darrel Curtis was sitting in his bedroom listing to the radio and looking threw hiss old high school yearbooks. When he came across the name Rebecca Willes. "You were such a freak." He mumbled to himself. Thinking about the girl that he along with over half the school made fun of. Then a song came on the radio that made him think.
I was
always the crazy one
I broke into the stadium
And I wrote your
number on the 50 yard line
You were always the perfect one
And
the valedictorian so
Under your number I wrote "call for a
good time"
He remembered walking on to the football field for practice and seeing his phone number on the fifty yard line. He never did find out who did that.
I only
wanted to catch your attention
But you overlooked me
somehow
Besides you had too many girlfriends to mention
And I
played my guitar too loud.
How do you
like me now?
How do you like me now,
Now that I'm on my way?
Do
you still think I'm crazy
Standin here today?
I couldnt make
you love me
But I always dreamed about living in your radio
How
do you like me now?
He remembered seeing Rebecca walking down the hall with that stupid guitar all the time.
When I
took off to Tennessee
I heard that you made fun of me
Never
imagined I'd make it this far
Then you had no money boy
Aint it
a cruel and funny world?
They took your dreams and tore them
apart.
He never
are home
And youre always alone
And your friends hear you cryin
down the hall
Alarm clock starts ringin
Who could that be
singin
Its me baby, with your wake up call!
That was when he realized how mean he was in high school. This song sounded like it was written for him.
How do you
like me now?
How do you like me now,
Now that I'm on my way?
Do
you still think I'm crazy
Standin here today?
I couldnt make
you love me
But I always dreamed about living in your radio
How
do you like me now?
Tell me baby...
I will preach on...
"and that was Rebecca Willes with her single "how do you like me now?!" she says that it was written for a boy from her old high school." The DJ said. Wholly crap. He thought. That song was for me. He looked back at the picture in the yearbook and he could have sworn she was giving him an I win grin. So Darrel shut the book and shoved it in the back of his closet. Promising never to say anything truly bad about anyone without proof first.
