OK. Here's my first Batman fanfic. This little plot bunny popped up while I was making my scarecrow mask for Halloween. I started to hum a familiar song and wondered if Jonathan did the same while he made his masks…
Disclaimer: I don't own Scarecrow, Batman, Nightmare before Christmas or Oogie Boogie.
And italics are him singing
As Jonathan looked at the sad remnants of his once perfect scarecrow mask he sighed.
"Well," he said as he opened his small closet, pulling out a large sheet burlap and old, battered hand-sewing kit. "I need a new one anyway…"
As he started cutting the burlap Jonathan began to sing quietly to himself
Your jokin, your jokin!
I can believe my eyes!
Your jokin me! Ya gotta be!
This can't be the right guy!
After inspecting it to be sure it was the right dimensions he began to cut eyeholes, and continued to sing.
He's ancient, he's ugly.
I don't know what's worse!
I might just split a seem now if I don't die laughin first!
He then brought out some twine and a needle and, with some difficulty threaded it.
Mr. Oogie Boogie says there's trouble close at hand!
You better pay attention now cause I'm the boogie man!
And if you aren't shakin',
There's something very wrong!
After he threaded it he picked up some scissors and started working on the "rips" he put on the mask for effect, Making very small and precise snips.
Cause this may be the last time you hear The Boogie Song!
I'm Oogie Boogie man!
Ahh ya jokin! Ya jokin.
I can't believe my ears!
At this moment his rather loud neighbor decided it was time for some loud rap music and cracked this stereo up to highest, ear damaging volume it could muster. Jonathan sighed.
Can someone shut this fella up?
I'm drownin in my tears!
It's funny! I'm laughin!
You really are too much!
He sat the mask down for a moment and walked over to a small chest at the corner of the room, looking at a coat rack as he passed it, after grabbing some sand paper from the chest he turned to it and said.
And now with your permission,
I'm going to do my stuff!
In his mind the coat rack answered back, "what are you going to do?"
Oh I'm gonna do the best I can!
He returned to the table and began to gently rub it in time to the song he was singing with the sandpaper, to give it a worn out look
Oh the sound of the dice to me is music in the air!
Cause I'm a gamblen Boogie man, although I don't play fair!
It's much more fun, I must confess with lives on the line!
Not mine of course! But your oh boy! Now that would be just fine!
He tossed the sandpaper to the side and walked over to a dummies head and held it in place as he took a needle to the mask and began to fit it.
Oh brother
You're something!
You put me in a spin!
He spun the dummy around and then returned to his work.
You aren't comprehending,
The position that you are in!
Your hopeless, your finished
you haven't got a prayer
Jonathan whipped the mask off the dummy and placed it over his head, securing it with a noose he kept from his last mask.
Cause I'm Mr. Oogie Boogie,
You aren't goin nowhere!
He laughed and sat down on an overstuffed couch, smiling behind musty burlap. He stood and walked over to the DVD case. He hadn't watched that movie in a very long time…
What did you think? I'm sorry I couldn't put all of Santa's lines in there. Oh well! Read and review please!
