Of Distant Lands.... by Cordelia Buffy Greenleaf Potter

a poem about Middle-Earth. Hope you like it!

I heard of a song from days gone by,

Of forests green by the river side,

Of little people that dwell in hills

And ancient castles strong and still,

Of the flags that fly as armies approach

And the verdant hue of an elven-brooch.

The ivory halls, the travelers tell,

Mark the pristine splendor of Rivendell.

Below the earth is the Dwarven cave,

And in the marsh is the silent grave.

I'm sure you would know what I meant

If I told of talking trees: an Ent!

Since the Valar gave the planet birth,

These tales have been told of Middle-Earth.

End notes: This one I got some help on, hopefully it's better than my early stories.... tell me what you all thought!
