Our ship is ready to bear away
Come comrades over the stormy seas.
Her snow-white sails, they are unfurled
And soon they shall wave in a watery world.
The Water Tribe warriors were packing the ships, and saying goodbye. Their chief, Hakoda, knelt by his son, who's face was painted in the traditional style.
"I wanna come with you, dad." he said.
"Sokka..." Hakoda sighed. "You can't. You know you can't. Besides, I need you here."
Sokka's lip trembled. "You do?"
Hakoda laughed. "Yes. You need to be their warrior. I know you'll do well."
Now he turned to his daughter. "Katara."
"Y-yes?" she asked, tears forming in her eyes.
"Don't be sad. Remember, I'll come back. And Mom's always watching over you. Never forget."
"Okay, Dad." Then she broke down and started crying.
Do not forget, love, do not grieve
For the heart is true and it can't deceive.
My heart in hand, I will give to thee,
So farewell, my love, and remember me.
The children gazed at their father with huge sad eyes, and he was struck by how much emotion could fit there. Both of them were crying now, huge tears falling and rolling down their faces.
Once they hit the ice, they froze, creating a faint crackle. It hurt so bad to see them cry. He mopped their tears, and embraced them both.
Farewell, my love, as bright as pearl
My lovely dark haired, blue eyed girl
And, when I'm sailing the stormy seas
I hope, back home, you'll think on me.
He said his last farewells, and boarded the ship. The crew said their goodbyes from the deck. He hoped to be back soon, but it would not be so. His children would grow up with their grandmother, and only remembered him.
Our ship is ready to bear away
Come comrades over the stormy seas.
Her snow-white sails, they are unfurled
And soon they shall wave in a watery world.
