Dave stood there as a bright light flooded into the room, as the light faded a familiar face looked at his, smiling widely and not recognising him at first glance, his large white wings practically glowing in the night* you summoned me?

daves eyes watered at the bright glow. it was almost too much for him to handle. as his eyes adjusted, john finally came into daves view... it... it worked? oh god, it worked. "john? that is you, right?" oh no he hadnt planned this far this was going to get weird wasnt it?

John stepped onto the floor and looked at him "...d-dave? oh my god... i..." he choked up and rushed over and hugging him tightly "dave i missed you so much!"

"likewise, dude, likewise" he didnt even think much about it, just tightly squeezing john in his arms, he was probably crying now but he didnt care. "when the search for you stopped, somehow i knew you had passed on... but..."

"i'm so sorry dave..." he buried his head in the others chest and sobbed* y-you told me not to go out! i should have listened to you! *he wrapped his wings around him so he could hug him closer, wanting to be as close as possible to him

dave heaved a heavy, contented sigh, wrapped up in johns grasp. "its fine now... after all this time, youre back. " he backed up from the tight hold he had on john, looking the boy in the face. daves own had turned red and puffy, eyes extremely tired from everything.

he hiccuped slightly, rather deep bags under his eyes from lack of rest* i... i tried to come back.. but.. but i couldn't on my own... john sniffed, not wanting to let go of him, tears streamed down his face "i'm so sorry dave.. it's all my fault!"

"its been a year since they stopped looking... they still never found anything..." his words were more quiet now, his body collapsing in johns grasp as if too tired to control itself. he rested his head in johns shoulder, sniffling. it took him a while to calm down, but eventually, he asked a different question. "but an angel though? how did... how did that happen?"

"i don't really know why i'm an angel... but... but it has something to do with how i died... " he held dave close to him, running his fingers through his hair as he calmed down, not wanting to answer his question, but knowing he's going to half to at some point

"...it was violent, wasnt it?" his tears had dried up, but the mortal still was choking on words, if not being more hushed about it. "if you dont want to tell me, you dont have to... but..." but? but what? but eventually hed find out? but he wanted to know? did he want to know? even that he didnt know. these questions were starting to rain in daves mind more and more and he didnt want to ask any of them.

"i... " he hugged him closer and let out a shaky breath "i was murdered... they knocked me unconscious with a rock, stabbed me multiple times... everywear..." he took a deep breath "ripped out my heart, tossed me in a ditch and returned later to set me on f... on fire..."

"thats... too violent." that was more than dave ever wanted to know, but it was information hed never forget. hed make sure that john still received the mortal justice he deserved, even if he was right in front of him. "im so sorry, john..."

"it's not your fault... you tried to stop me..." John hiccuped again, holding dave as close as he could as his head began to drip blood and golden ichor "it's my fault..."

dave held the smaller man close. both of them where shaking, but he needed to stay strong for john. "Its not your fault. Its mine for not staying close."
